It's with a very broken heart that I am finally finding the strength to write this. We had to let our beautiful girl Destiny go to heaven yesterday evening. On Wednesday she started acting like she needed to poop but she could not get anything out. I thought she was just constipated but this went on all day. She already had an appointment scheduled for Thursday for her midyear exam with Dr. Mike. They did x-rays on her & found a large mass on top of her colon. The mass was the size of a baseball & it was pushing on the colon so that is why she felt like she needed to poop. Without the surgery the mass would keep anything from coming out of the colon. The mass grow very fast because it was not there when they did the ultra sound & x-rays in November. I left her at the clinic so they could do a biopsy & so Dr. Mike could call & talk to the surgeon. The surgeon said he could do the surgery but it was very major surgery and she would probably lose quality of life if she even made it through the surgery because it was such a high risk surgery. Also there was a good chance it would come back so we decided it was time to let her go. He called me to let me know it was cancer & I asked him if he thought it was the best decision and he said yes. Dr. Mike loves Destiny & he has been her vet all of her life & he is the kind of vet that will try everything possible to save the pet. He has even made people angry with him because he would not euthanize their pet because there was still hope of saving them. Until Wednesday we did not even know anything was wrong with her. LilyPup the Taco Terrier Hi Tequila....I am so sorry for our extended absence but things just got out of hand here. We had the holidays, shopping, Moma had a hemorrage in the back of her eye, there was a death in our extended family and well things were not going well. Suddenly one night Moma started see lightning bolts like out of one eye and it got all hazy. She got to an eye doctor that week and found out she had a Vitreous Fluid Hemorrage. Anyway she had to have emergency laser surgery to fix a tear in the back of the eye near the retina and while it has cleared up a lot it is still hazy and by days end she has headaches usually from eye strain. The specialist says it is healing as well as can be expected but it could take a couple months to clear up completely. It also made a floater that is clouding her vision but that is breaking up per our last doctor visit. She was completely caught off guard by this and when we asked what could have caused it the doctor says its just something that happens sometimes with age. Moma is 65. Anyway this has been a big problem for her. I hope you had a good Christmas....I got some treats but no toys as I don't place much with them anymore. We got new carpeting in the bedroom so that feels good to my little feet and they say that is their joint Christmas gift so I am saying its mine too!!! Ok going to go now....hugs to you and Moma!!! LilyPup the Taco Terrier Hi Tequila!! We had a good Thanksgiving and I am so sorry I didn't get a chance to stop in and wish you a happy holiday prior to the big day. I have posted a photo of our familys dogs that attends all holiday get togethers and cookouts. We are a motley crew as they say.....I got some turkey and even some honey ham. It was very good and then I went home and slept on the couch for the rest of the evening. I was pooped!! Hope your Thanksgiving was a good one....hugs LilyPup and Moma

LilyPup the Taco Terrier Well we sorta slept in. Moma and I were snoring away and Daddy was making a racket when he was up so he woke us up. Then Moma brought me a treat back to the bed along with her coffee and we were watching tv leisurely sipping coffee when he announced breakfast was ready!!! So Moma (who certainly wasn't expecting any breakfast) staggered out to the kitchen and had breakfast yawning thru the entire thing. So much for sleeping in......Daddy's concept is different than Momas. Have a great weekend!! hugs LilyPup

LilyPup the Taco Terrier "AND" I actually let her get a couple shots of me on the bed wearing 2 new necklaces she got me. That was really surprising to her!! Usually all I will allow is a photo sitting near Daddy. Not saying I am over the camera thing but maybe I am getting better!! And in that photo she said I was so out I was snoring. Of course I don't believe that because ladies don't snore but she insists I was!! Today they have an appt at a diabetes clinic for the first of 4 classes to help them deal with and understand Daddy's diabetes. LilyPup the Taco Terrier Well finally the DC has deleted all the duplicate posts that we have on our pages!! Yeah!!!! We are all so excited that just maybe they have figured out what is wrong here.....cooled down here some but still humid. Moma watching me very closely at night. A couple towns over 2 coyotes killed a cat in front of its owner. We have no idea how coyotes got here. Anyway we live on a wooded lot and Moma is vigilant. Isn't that terrible??? hugs LilyPup

LilyPup the Taco Terrier Hi Tequila.....Well our weather temps are climbing again and while today appears not to be a scorcher I think by the weekend we are going to have pretty hot days again. Daddy has some errands w/some friends so its Moma & I here alone today. She says we should do something productive but honestly she messed up on taking her pancreatitic enzymes and didn't take them until after eating & she is a little queasy right now. It should pass but she is just sitting w/me on the couch right now listening to the Drew Peterson murder trial. What a snake he is.....hugs LilyPup and Moma
