Melian (In Memory of Tiny) How are you doing? I hope you had a very Merry Christmas! I had great plans on stopping by everyone's pages with greetings but I simply ran out of time. It seems we're always rushing from one thing to another and scrambling in between while juggling 10 different concurrent jobs! I really like the cold and the snow. With all this snow mama finally got the chance to attach the sleigh runners to Pippin's cart. We took it out for a spin and Pippin is such a trooper. ___________________________________________________________________________ He's only 31" tall and with the snow being half his height, he really had to struggle. But, he doesn't give up. Ever! He just kept pulling and pulling and away we went. If the sleigh got stuck he just kept pulling until someone helped him. It was filled with Christmas play practice, eating, shoping, & cooking. The usual things :) This was my first Christmas attending our candle light service. I enjoyed that and plan to make it part of my future Christmas traditions. Bandit devores toys, so Bindi got squeaky toys and he got tough made to last toys. Bandit was not happy about that, he howled every time Bindi's toys squeaked. Now I have to look for Bandit a squeaky toy that might last for a while. Bandit did play with his non-squeaky toys anyway. While we were out for the day Bandit and Bindi were out in their kennels playing with their toys. Christmas dinner was the best ever! My sister helped my mom cook! I helped do little things like prep and put stuff in place, etc. Christmas night, we drove to a nearby town to see the light show. They have made several improvements and it was the best light show yet. It has really rained heavy here, & we're expecting more!!! Stay safe and enjoy the remainder of the Christmas holiday. I was wishing he would sit up like the rest of us. Bandit got his first Rabies vaccinne and his first dose of heartworm med. Melian (In Memory of Tiny) How are you doing? Hey, remember me? It's been a really, really long time since I kept up with blogging on here. Actually, ever since the new and unimproved DC changes took place. I keep hoping (silly me) that things will get better, and a few things have been fixed, but I need to stop hoping in vain and just get my act together. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ So, I booted mama off the computer and have taken over tonight. I do apologize for the partial c/p but I have blogs dating all the way back to April. Oops, did you faint? Sorry! ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I'm not going to bother trying to write about everything that's happened over the past busy few months. I thought I'd just concentrate on an important event that happened a couple of weeks ago. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Well, we had a saluki convention! 10 salukis brought their humans and we had a blast. I'm a bit nervous around strange big dogs but salukis don't move and behave quite like "normal" dogs and I was much better around them than anyone, including me, expected. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ However, we took everyone to a large open field where we did lure-coursing. A couple of the large males decided that I was fun to tease. They started to chase me and the whole pack joined it. I high-tailed it out of there as fast as I could. The field was perhaps a mile long. haha They couldn't even begin to keep up with me! Within seconds I had a substantial lead. By the time I reached the end of the field they had hardly reached the centre. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All of their owners just looked on open-mouthed in awe. They couldn't believe how fast I am! Hey, it's all those miles I go running almost every day. I'm fit and I'm Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaast! I think perhaps I'm the fastest dog in the world. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ And the best part? Mama had been telling me for weeks, "Now Melian, you think you're so fast and no other dog has ever caught you. Just wait till you meet these salukis. You'll be in for a surprise when you can't get away." hehe I showed her, didn't I? I think mama's mouth was the openest of all of them. And she is very proud of me. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ On that happy note I'm going to end this blog. CONTESSA Hi Reese, Magnum, and Angel Brandy, I have a favor to ask of you. Mom is trying to find warm places to go on vacation this winter. You see dad gets the vacation list of weeks available on or around December 10th and then he has to pick right away. Usually the only time left is January and February, and maybe you might find a week in March. Mom was thinking of Houston, TX, which I know you are close to. What can you tell me about Houston? Is it dog friendly? We like to go hiking and was wondering if the parks are pet friendly? Here in my town, dogs are NOT allowed in any city parks. What are good attractions? We would be renting a house through vrbo.com (if mom can find one that is-she really hasn't starting looking yet) What is the weather like? Sorry for so many questions, but being from Wisconsin, we try to take a warm weather vacation since dad doesn't get a summer vacation, so this has to substitute for a summer vacation. CONTESSA Hi Reese, Magnum, & Angel Brandy, Mom has finally had a little breathing space, so will try to update everyone on what's going on. I was finally able to get into my holistic vet, but before we went, mom had been looking me over pretty good and found I had sores on both legs and upon further inspection, she didn't think I licked/chewed them. The sores just appeared. Then she was looking into the folds under my belly and found red hot black spots (again!). Mom also says I stink -yeast maybe?? Well the doctor thought I smelled yeasty, but only bacteria was found. Mom now has a vinegar rinse she is applying, but mom wants to rinse my whole body, but she's only to do the bad areas (which also is flaking) and then we have powder for the fold area-too moist there so need to dry that up and then have some other stuff (Smart Silver) that will help heal. I will probably have to go back next Wednesday for a follow up. When doing testing, it shows issues with my spleen, liver, and skin, so we are back to treating those areas and then my spay scar reappeared, so mom has to laser that. Mom has a regular ritual with me at night since there isn't enough time in the morning. For the most part, I guess I feel okay. Mom still takes me for walks to enjoy our beautiful fall weather. I'm sad though because I found out one of my doggie friends has bone cancer and only was given 6 months, Guiness just turned 10. She is in a couple of my pictures that are on my page-she's a Chocolate Lab. Her sister is Truffles, another Chocolate Lab. I feel real bad, she's such a sweet girl. Thanks for the healing prayers. I sure hope this passes soon and everything settles down. Mom has decided she can leave me for a bit, so her and dad are going to Warrens Cranberry Fest for a couple of hours tomorrow before dad goes to work, then mom will be with me the rest of the day. CONTESSA Hi Reese, Magnum, & Angel Brandy, Sorry I haven't been on this week, but Mom has been working long hours, and I'm a mess. I don't know what happened, but I'm itchy all over and I've made a mess of my left rear leg. Mom is trying to do her best and my holistic vet is at a conference in Chicago until Sunday night. What does not sound like fun is the little mix-up going on amoungest you boys! Mom don't need the stress, knock it off! Be good pups! BOL! Today mom has a BBQ to go to later on at the Sussex County Fair Grounds. It's the Champion of the Grill Compitition and best part about it, it's FREE! You can sample as much types of BBQ'd foods as you can eat. Of course, mom will stick to chicken. But she won't be leaving until after riding Indy today. It's Paige's day off, so only Indy will be worked out, and I'll be played with, them mom can leave me for a while. And oh yeah mom, I do expect a doggie bag to come home with you!!!!!!!! It's down about half the size in thickness. Also top layer of skin slaughed off from the DMSO. Vet said to stop DMSO for 3 days and continue again. We could be headed in the right direction for desolving it. But it's still itchy and brothering him. Well today mom plans on riding in the new sand in the indoor arena. She really dragged it in good with the grooming tractor yesterday afternoon. Looks good to me, we were in there this morning and I left foot prints in the sand and it was so soft on my paws, I wanted to roll in it, but mom caught me getting ready to drop and roll and yelled NO HARLEY, you are not bringing that sand in the house! Okay mom, I was good and didn't roll! I'll try again later when she ain't lookin' Labby Hugs, Harley.

CONTESSA Hi Reese, Magnus, & Angel Brandy - Sorry to hear that you lost your points. That must be a new thing they started with the new DC. I only used the points for the magazine also - nothing else was worth the points they required. I am back from my spa vacation, but as usual I decided to try to find a way to get mom to come and get me. This time I tried the do not want to eat trick, but that didn't work. The staff at Aunt B's love me to pieces and they will do all it takes to keep me healthy & happy! My cyst is healing nicely and I am so glad to be back home. Mom & Dad go back to work tomorrow so it will be back to the same routine again, but the weekend is just around the corner! We got a little rain last night and early this AM, but not enough to really help with our drought situation. We have one tree in our front yard that looks dead and we use well water to water things, so mom doesn't know if it just went dormant early or if it actually suffered too badly and won't come back next spring.
