On friday afternoon mom was given some terrible news from her daughter. Her lab work came back abnormal & she told her oncologist that her back was hurting really bad. He sent her for a full body scan & an MRI. After the testing she headed back up to his office located in the hospitals medical bldg, reviewed the results & told her that her cancer had returned and statistically she is now stage 4 with 1-2 yrs to live. She will be going for a biopsy on thursday & hopes that her surgeon will be able to re-insert her port while she is sedated for the biopsy. Once the port is inserted she will be going thru another round of chemo, a more aggressive drug that will help reduce the swelling which will help stop the pain in her back & hopefully send the cancer into remission. The cancer is in an area around her kidneys & is in the bone so mom & dad are praying that this course of treatment will kill it and she will live a long healthy life.

Scooby On Sunday morning mom got a urgent call from her son regarding moms daughters am staff, Jackson.Moms daughter woke up to find him lay ing on the living rm floor moaning & when he tried to get up he fell over. Moms daughter called her brother who came over & took them to the animal hospital where her dog Jackson was a retired dog blood donor so they knew him well. Before mom could even get out the door her son called to say that Jackson did not make it, they could not save him. They opened his chest to do manual massage but all moms daughter could hear was a flat line from out in the hall. She knew he was gone before they even said anything. Apparently he had a cyst or mass on his heart which ruptured, there was so much fluid around his heart they could hardly hear a heartbeat. We are really devastated by his passing, he was such a cool dog & a big love bug that loved to crawl on your lap, put his big head on your shoulder and sigh. Mom is worried that it will effect her progress & wonders how much more she will have to endure.

Scooby The surgery went well, the doctors were very pleased with the outcome. She is home resting & rapidly gaining her strength back & will be able to return to work in a couple of weeks. After she is healed she will start radiation & after radiation she will have her final surgery to put in the implants. Thank you for all of your thoughts & prayers.

Scooby Mom's daughter is scheduled for her first surgery on June 25th. She will stay overnight and come home the following day. The doctors feel she may only be out of work for a month or less instead of the traditional 6 weeks. I thank all of our dc friends for their thoughts & prayers these past 6 months.

Scooby

Scooby The doctor is pleased with her lab work and feels the tumor has shrunk, we are all very happy with that news. In a week or two she will start her last round of chemo and then she will get a 4-6 week break before her 1st surgery.

Scooby Tomorrow moms daughter goes in for a lithotripsy, she has a large kidney stone that has to come out before she can start chemo. She will have 20 weeks of chemo, then will have to wait a month before she can have the surgery so that the chemo is flushed from her body. Mom thinks she will opt for implants. She will start out with what they call spacers which when filled with saline will stretch the muscles and chest wall to accommodate the permanent implants. She will go in weekly to have the saline injected until she gets the size and shape she is comfortable with and once that is determined she will have the spacers in for three months before the permanent implants are put in. All toghether this whole procedure will take the better part of a year. This will be the last update until after chemo is completed. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

Scooby

Scooby Forgot to mention chemo will start the week of the 21st and by week three she will loose her hair. Have alot of friends helping her out & a few co-workers who stopped by her house and brought her... more
