Melian (In Memory of Tiny) How are you doing? I hope you had a happy Thanksgiving. We had a wonderful day with lots of good food and good company. I wanted to stop by on the day before and wish you a Happy Thanksgiving but the DC was down! ;( __________________________________________________________________________________ And then I wanted to stop by on the day itself but we were too busy stuffing ourselves with stuffing. And then Friday my kitty brother won cotd. And then the weekend we were eating again, and so on…. Every day I told mama I wanted to blog but we didn't get a chance! __________________________________________________________________________________ And yet again we are burning the midnight oil as I finally persuaded mama that enough was enough. I didn't want to wait any longer! How was your celebration? Melian (In Memory of Tiny) How are you doing? Hey, remember me? It's been a really, really long time since I kept up with blogging on here. Actually, ever since the new and unimproved DC changes took place. I keep hoping (silly me) that things will get better, and a few things have been fixed, but I need to stop hoping in vain and just get my act together. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ So, I booted mama off the computer and have taken over tonight. I do apologize for the partial c/p but I have blogs dating all the way back to April. Oops, did you faint? Sorry! ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I'm not going to bother trying to write about everything that's happened over the past busy few months. I thought I'd just concentrate on an important event that happened a couple of weeks ago. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Well, we had a saluki convention! 10 salukis brought their humans and we had a blast. I'm a bit nervous around strange big dogs but salukis don't move and behave quite like "normal" dogs and I was much better around them than anyone, including me, expected. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ However, we took everyone to a large open field where we did lure-coursing. A couple of the large males decided that I was fun to tease. They started to chase me and the whole pack joined it. I high-tailed it out of there as fast as I could. The field was perhaps a mile long. haha They couldn't even begin to keep up with me! Within seconds I had a substantial lead. By the time I reached the end of the field they had hardly reached the centre. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All of their owners just looked on open-mouthed in awe. They couldn't believe how fast I am! Hey, it's all those miles I go running almost every day. I'm fit and I'm Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaast! I think perhaps I'm the fastest dog in the world. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ And the best part? Mama had been telling me for weeks, "Now Melian, you think you're so fast and no other dog has ever caught you. Just wait till you meet these salukis. You'll be in for a surprise when you can't get away." hehe I showed her, didn't I? I think mama's mouth was the openest of all of them. And she is very proud of me. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ On that happy note I'm going to end this blog. Melian (In Memory of Tiny) How are you doing? Wow, it's been a long, long time since I blogged properly on HC! I decided to try and catch up on there first. DC is still not up to par and with this new method of only displaying 10 blogs per page I'd have to open at least 70 pages to answer all the blogs I missed. This has been the craziest summer ever. I'm always busy and somewhat insane but I think I've taken both to a new level because I've been insanely busy. :) ____________________________________________________________________________________ Without boring you with too many details I'll just say that I've had to take several road trips for work and the past 3 weeks I've been literally working day and night to meet a deadline. But, it's good to keep busy, right? I just miss my nighttime blogging. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Thank you so much for stopping by Pippin's page and for all your votes in the Grazing contest. Mama said she was even further behind on HC so she caught up with blogs there today. He won! We were so happy to know that he received first place over all. We couldn't have done it without friends like you. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Pippin is doing is great as are the big boys. I see them once a week to drive and I really like driving a lot. I still wish I could ride but I'm happy that not only do I get to spend time with horses but I get to drive them. ____________________________________________________________________________________ I take Pippin out as much as I can. Not every day like we're used to because I'm so busy but at least several times a week, even if it's just a walk. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Just the other evening I took him out for a cart ride with Melian. He hadn't been out for about a week and was feeling the need to stretch his little legs. ____________________________________________________________________________________ We were going at a nice trot for a mile or so. Once he warmed up properly he wanted to go faster so I set him at a fast canter. That got Melian interested in a race. They love racing each other! ____________________________________________________________________________________ So, she started teasing him by zigzagging back and forth under his nose and he chased her trying to nip at her bony butt. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Suddenly she did a rollback and accidentally rolled back onto her butt. She was SO mad. I think she felt embarrassed and she let out a huge growl. It was plain that she blamed Pippin and she let him know. ____________________________________________________________________________________ That got him going and he took off at an earth shattering gallop. It was the fastest I have ever seen him pull a cart. It felt like it was going to explode into a million tiny parts. Wow, that was fun! He ran like that for over a mile. What a rush! ____________________________________________________________________________________ That had me smiling and he got a nice bounce to his step. I'm sure you agree that there's nothing like a good ride or drive to bring things back into perspective. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Thanks for sticking by me even though I've not been around. I'm getting caught up on my blogs today (I hope) but I'm not sure how often I can blog.
