Melian (In Memory of Tiny) How are you doing? Hey, remember me? It's been a really, really long time since I kept up with blogging on here. Actually, ever since the new and unimproved DC changes took place. I keep hoping (silly me) that things will get better, and a few things have been fixed, but I need to stop hoping in vain and just get my act together. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ So, I booted mama off the computer and have taken over tonight. I do apologize for the partial c/p but I have blogs dating all the way back to April. Oops, did you faint? Sorry! ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I'm not going to bother trying to write about everything that's happened over the past busy few months. I thought I'd just concentrate on an important event that happened a couple of weeks ago. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Well, we had a saluki convention! 10 salukis brought their humans and we had a blast. I'm a bit nervous around strange big dogs but salukis don't move and behave quite like "normal" dogs and I was much better around them than anyone, including me, expected. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ However, we took everyone to a large open field where we did lure-coursing. A couple of the large males decided that I was fun to tease. They started to chase me and the whole pack joined it. I high-tailed it out of there as fast as I could. The field was perhaps a mile long. haha They couldn't even begin to keep up with me! Within seconds I had a substantial lead. By the time I reached the end of the field they had hardly reached the centre. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All of their owners just looked on open-mouthed in awe. They couldn't believe how fast I am! Hey, it's all those miles I go running almost every day. I'm fit and I'm Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaast! I think perhaps I'm the fastest dog in the world. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ And the best part? Mama had been telling me for weeks, "Now Melian, you think you're so fast and no other dog has ever caught you. Just wait till you meet these salukis. You'll be in for a surprise when you can't get away." hehe I showed her, didn't I? I think mama's mouth was the openest of all of them. And she is very proud of me. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ On that happy note I'm going to end this blog. Very bad drought situation here. Our town even cancelled the fireworks celebration they always have. My DOTM run is almost over to day and tomorrow and that's it! Can you believe it? It's one of my absolute favorite dog films and the name of this movie is " A Dog Named Christmas ". A Dog Named Christmas is a Hallmark Hall of Fame tv movie that stars Bruce Greenwood (Star Trek) as the father of a developmentally challenged young man that has a wonderfully strong desire to care for animals in need. This young man sets out to convince his family and the whole rural community to participate in a local shelter's inaugural "Adopt a Dog for Christmas Program". It is a very heartwarming story that I can't see any dog person not liking. It is a difficult movie to find for purchase and your best bet is Amazon or the Hallmark Channel Movies Website. I don't know if anyplace else has it for sale or if it is available to rent, but if you can get your hands on a copy of this movie, PLEASE do so and watch it. It's the first live action movie ever produced by Walt Disney. It stars Fred MacMurray, Annette Funicello and Tommy Kirk as Wilby Daniels, a boy who, thanks to sn ancient spell, changes into a sheepdog and back again. It always seems to happen at the most inapproriate times resulting in extremely funny situations. The spell can only be broken by an act of bravery! Hot Diggity Dog we have reached Day 14 in my Campaign! *****ALERT***** This is a 2 box of Kleenex Movie.....you will laugh till you cry at the funny parts, and you will bawl your eyes out at the sad ones. Truly gut wrenching sad at times! That out of the way................ ~~~** Here's the topic I promised you.....**~~~ ~~ The BEST Dog Movies You May Not Be Watching ~~ **" Marley and Me" is todays choice. I know, I know, you didn't watch it because you didn't want to cry your eyes out, which is why, after crying her way thru the book, Mommy waited for dvd and bought it so she could bawl and squall in the privacy of her own home! IT'S A 2 DEW CLAWS UP GUYS! Mommy had read the book while bawling her eyes out and laughing her butt off (she obviously found BOTH of them back!) Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson star as John and Jenny Grogan but the real stars of this movie are the 22 DIFFERENT DOGS that play Marley throughout the various stages of his mischief filled life! For those of us who try to be good, yet trouble seems to find us (that would be me) this is a movie that proves that all doggies are worthy of love !!! Based on the book and true story by John Grogan. Please do NOT pass this one up. Just get an extra box of Kleenex and settle in.
