How We Met?
It had been a year since my first dog Chloe, a lab/pointer mix, had passed. My family and I have done our grieving and we talked about getting another puppy & at this point, we were ready for one. Not only was this puppy for us but for our westie as well; a new companion if you will. After hearing about a new shelter opening up in our local mall, we stopped by just to see what they had and there was little Charlee; an adorable black lab/pointer mix pup that we instantly fell in love with her. That day, by our surprise, we took her home with us. We went in to look at the puppies and walked out with one instead. In truth, it feels like fate has allowed us to cross paths with Charlee. I know it sounds crazy but believe what you want but in a sense, we believe our new pup is a message from Chloe, a reincarnation if you will.
By all means, Charlee had a rough start at life. Being a shelter dog, she was recused from a kill shelter from South Carolina. She does have her problems. For example: when we took her to the vet, we found that she has a under developed immune system as well as red mange, which she is currently being treated for. She's young, though, and has a whole life ahead of her; I see her problems as minor obstacles on our journey of life together and such obstacles can be treated. I just hope that after all is said and done, she maintains a happier and further clean bill of health.
Wether my dogs are sick or one hundred percent healthy, I love them all the same.
