How We Met?
I had always wanted a dog, but my family lived in an apartment for the first 18 years of my life so we couldn't get one. After I graduated High School we moved to a house with a backyard, and I was looking forward to adopting a puppy from NSALA once we were settled. Since it was my first dog, I wanted to make sure I took my time deciding and not adopt the very first one I saw (which is hard to do because all puppies are cute!). About a year after we moved, I picked out a small chocolate colored puppy who had come in with his littermates from a shelter down in Virginia. Most of them looked sort of like golden retrievers and two, including Hershey, were chocolate. Though I looked at all of them, Hershey "spoke" to me, and after he was neutered, I took him home to meet the resident Queen of the house. Needless to say, Brookie wasn't too pleased, as she had lived as the only pet of the house for a long time. She still doesn't like him very much, sorry to say. He likes the other cats but they don't like him too much!
