How We Met?
About two years before Daphne was born my daughter got a Cocker Spaniel puppy. At the time I jokingly talked about the dog I would have one day once all my kids were grown and out of the house. I began researching the Bulldog breed and had met a few that I really liked. The more I read about them, the more I liked them. So when my daughter asked me what my dog's name would be, I, again, said jokingly DAPHNE because it was a very femine name for a very unfemine looking dog.
So through the next two years I talked about Daphne like she was already here. My grandkids called her Gramma's imaginary dog. I would scold them and say that she is not imaginary, she is just not here yet. Then as we planned for my daughter's [my youngest and the only one still home] wedding, I told a friend of mine about Daphne and right away she started looking for bulldog pups even though I said it would be after the wedding that I would got one.
Well, she found a litter of pups and sent me pics. In this litter of eight, there was one little girl who was brindle and had white on her face just as I imagined Daphne would look like.
I put a down payment on her and on Mother's Day weekend my daughter surprised me by bringing her home a week early. The kids all pooled their money with my daughter paying the most. But even my grandson pitched in his quarter. I spent the first two weeks sleeping with her on the couch. I had never let the kids have their dogs on the furniture. LOL She is everything I knew she'd be.
