Pups Prefer Pumpkin Pie! By Helen Fazio, Travel Dog Blogger,www.traveldogbooks.com Pumpkin is very good for dogs, and dogs usually want a piece of pie. Make Fido his own dog-friendly pie and he'll never come begging for yours. Whip together: 1 can pumpkin (not pie mix), 3 eggs, 1/2 cup of skim milk (or unsweetened soy milk), 1/2 cup of brown sugar (it is a holiday!), 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, Pour into a wholewheat pie shell and bake at a preheated 375 degrees F for 60 minutes or until a knife comes out clean. Your dog's pumpkin pie will be rich and not too sweet!

I decided to open the Barkery so all my fur friends could have good recipes for treats. Feel free to post recipes that are healthy for our dogs. 	THE BARKERY ( recipes welcomed ) Doggy Bacon Bits::: 6 slices cooked bacon, crumbled 4 eggs, well beaten 1/8 cup bacon fat 1 cup water 1/2 cup non-fat dry milk powder 2 cup graham flour 2 cup wheat germ 1/2 cup cornmeal Mix ingredients with a strong spoon; drop heaping tablespoonfuls onto a greased baking sheet. Bake in a 350 oven for 15 minutes. Turn off oven and leave cookies on baking sheet in the oven overnight to dry out. Yield: about 4 dozen dog cookies. Write a comment...	X

	THE BARKERY ( recipes welcomed ) Paw Print Pumpkin Dog Treats (from the DC) Preheat oven to 325 (300 if using a convection oven)* Ingredients: 1 cup plain canned pumpkin puree 1 cup peeled, 1/4” diced, lightly blanched fresh pumpkin 1/2 cup roasted pumpkin seeds, coarsely chopped 1 cup quick-cooking oats 2 cups whole-wheat flour 1 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 cup molasses 1/2 cup honey 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce 1/2 cup canola oil Steps: 1. Mix above ingredients in a large bowl 2. Add water to achieve a chocolate-chip cookie like consistency 3. Line baking sheets with parchment paper 4. Drop by teaspoons (for the petite puppies) and Tablespoons (for the big guys) onto baking sheets about 2 inches apart 5. Flatten into rounds with a fork in a cross-hatch pattern 6. Bake for 10 minutes 7. Switch the baking sheets front to back, top to bottom and bake for 5-10 minutes longer until golden and firm - adjusting time for teaspoons (a bit less) and for tablespoons (a bit longer) 8. 	THE BARKERY ( recipes welcomed ) Pupcakes-Ingredients: 1/2 Cup All purpose flour 1 Cup Whole wheat flour 1/2 Cup Cornmeal 1 tsp Baking soda 1 tsp Baking powder 1 tsp Molasses 1/4 Cup Honey 1 Egg 1 Cup Water 1/2 Cup Diced, cooked chicken Frosting: 8 oz Lowfat cream cheese 2 tbs Honey 1/3 c Vegetable oil Cake: In a large bowl, combine all dry ingredients and mix well. Next, add the honey, molasses, egg and water and mix for two minutes. Finally, slowly mix in diced chicken. Pour mixture into cupcake papers and cook at 350 for 20-25 minutes. Frosting: Combine softened cream cheese, honey and oil. Beat until mixture forms a frosting-like consistency. Write a comment...	X

	THE BARKERY ( recipes welcomed ) First Recipe-Birthday cake In large bowl, blend 3 cups of water, two shredded carrots, one egg. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, 2 tablespoons of honey. Mix in two mashed bananas. In a separate bowl, combine 4 cups of whole-wheat flour. 1 teaspoon each of baking powder,nutmeg,and cinnamon. Combine the flour and carrot mixtures and blend well. Spray a cupcake pan with nonsick spray. Fill each cup three-quarters full and bake at 350 F for about an hour. Cool before serving. Makes 24 cupcakes. They can be frozen for later.
