How We Met?

A little puppy named Lady by her dog mom's family (I changed her name to "Indigo" because as a little girl I had always loved that name and said it would by the name of my dog) came into the world on April 15th, 2005. She was the runt of the litter and the only one of her color; all her siblings were black and white. I think that is special, because she added color to my world. She was the most precious puppy there ever was. I loved her with all my heart and I spent so much time with her. She was my very best friend. As she grew up, we both learned a lot. I trained her to be a good girl, and she trained me to be patient. ;) My family and I lived on a beautiful island and Indigo got to run free on it all day. Through the ups and downs of my life, Indigo was always least for the short time she was given to spend here on earth. One morning I woke up to find Indigo downstairs on the floor shaking uncontrollably. We thought maybe, for some strange reason, she had a chill, so we got the house nice and warm and bundled her up in blankets and snuggled with her. But it didn't help...Sometimes she would stop, and we all got our hopes up that she was going to be all better. But she didn't. Christmas day wasn't a jolly one. Indigo had always had so much fun tearing the wrapping paper off her presents, but now she needed help opening them. She didn't care what was in them anyway though. Someone gently pet Indigo and she let out a terrible squeal. It was hurting me so much to see her in such pain. My other dog, Peaka, had just had a life-threatening injury by running into something sharp and cutting her side open. She had a drain tube and tons of external & internal stitches. Something had gone wrong with her healing process. The drain tube wasn't working. The fluids that needed to come out weren't draining. So my dad and I took Peaka back to the vets in my dad's airplane (the only way to get to and from the village we lived in) but this time we brought Indigo too. Peaka was checked in first. I knew there was no guarantee that Peaka could be saved...And Indigo...My world fell apart in those painful moments of wondering if I would go home without both the dogs who were such a big part of my life and made a house home. After Indigo's exam, the vets were so sorry to tell me that Indigo had complete kidney failure and very painful ulcers all throughout inside her body...that is why she cried when touched. Hi, my name is Willow. I'm a 1 year old red toy poodle from PA. I have been on DC since January 7, 2008. I love attention and being held! (I'm the A Team Attention Getter!) I love to play with other dogs. I chase my sister Jasmine all over the house! :) My favorite toy is my stuffed bear! I know sit, stay and come. I love going bye byes, just not the car ride. I get scared and shake like a leaf! Hehe. I love sitting on my Mom & Dad's lap, too! I am in several clubs here on DC; The Peace Team, The A Team, The Poodle Club and TDCPBC. I enjoy helping others out with their DOTD and DOTM runs, by voting, campaigning and just getting the word out! I'm hoping you'll help me out now! My sister, Jasmine, won her DOTM badge in November. I would love to have my very own in January, too! Please drop by with your daily vote. Hugs and kisses, Willow 54488

My story (angel Onyx) A week after my angel brother Ruger went to the Rainbow Bridge, one of Mom's co-workers called her and told her about a guy who had this 8 month old black lab that he did not want anymore. She begged my mom to to look at him because the guy had told her that he was going to shoot the dog if he didn't find a home for him that day. That dog was me, Onyx. Mom told her coworker to send the man over. Well, the guy came over, Mom put me in her yard to see how I would react to her. I was was 8 months old and like a little "calf" (very big hyper dog), but I was friendly and seemed happy to just run around the yard. When Mom and I turned around my old owner had left and we never heard from him again. Mom did however find my medical records and papers in my mail box a week later. Mom spent the first three days at home since I had never been with cats. I did fine these 3 days but the first day that Mom left me at home by myself with the cats, I chewed up everything in my house, especially all the cat toys, I never hurt the cats though. Mom wasn't upset with me though, she knew that I was going through a lot, just had lost my first owner (and we all know that we pups love our humans no matter how they treat us), it took patience and lots of love and chew bones to treat my chewing habit. I wasn't a hunter, he was a loving boy. We had 6 cats by now and I loved all of them, I also loved squirrels, my neighbors would laugh about me, as they walked by our yard and I would have a squirrel sit on my back eating a nut. They were my friends. I always could make my mom smile even on bad days, I would just tilt my head and put up one lip and that would make her smile, I was a good listener. One time I alarmed my mom by barking in a puppy like voice to make her find a injured rabbit, it was a domestic black little bunny. Someone had set the poor baby out and it had been attacked by a cat or something. The little Bunny did not make it, but at leats I was able to save it from suffering. I was a big boy (108 pounds) but I thought I was a lap dog, I would love to sit on everybody's lap.Mom always said that I had such strength in my back end, other dogs wag their tails, I would wag my whole body and knock you over. I had the mind of a puppy all the way till the end, so happy, so sweet. I died from an aneurysm in my head, I had suffered from hip dysplasia for years, had went into liver failure 3 years before I died and survived even though the vets didn't give me more than a couple months to live after that. I had Cushing's disease, but even that we managed, we didn't know about the aneurysm. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, Love leaves a memory no one can steal. I will be forever in Mom's heart and on her mind. Next weeks story will be about Angel Nittany. Congrats to our Christmas Angel DOTD.Coby #10137. New Member,Angel Indigo #107647. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
