Today is January 30 and Day 30 of my Jan DOTM run. Only 2 more days left! It is 64º F and sunny today. It was a great day for my morning walk. It almost feels like Spring outside!! We are loving it!! We are supposed to get some rain this afternoon and tonight, so we will go for another walk now while we can.

All About Dogs Day 30 of Dog Facts:
1. The oldest known dog bones were found in Asia and date as far back as 10,000 B.C. The first identifiable dog breed appeared about 9000 B.C. and was probably a type of Greyhound dog used for hunting.
2. Bloodhound dogs have a keen sense of smell and have been used since the Middle Ages to track criminals.
3. Dogs in a pack are more likely to chase and hunt than a single dog on its own. Two dogs are enough to form a pack.
4. The average dog can run about 19 mph. Greyhounds are the fastest dogs on Earth and can run at speeds of 45 mph.

GOLDIE THANKS YOU FOR YOUR DOTM VOTE TODAY!
Today is January 26 and Day 26 of my Jan DOTM run. It was raining all night and some this morning, but cleared up this afternoon. It was only 43ºF and there was a cold wind making it feel much colder. During my walk this afternoon, I ran over to one of Mom’s flower gardens. I won’t come back to Mom when she called me. So she came over to scold me and see what I was doing. I picked up something and started to run from her. She got me to stop and told me to drop it. “It” was the bottom part of a baby deer’s leg!! Something must have killed one and a dog or something was lying in Mom’s back flower garden and was going to chew on the leg!! Mom won’t let me have it. Isn’t it mine? Finders keepers, right?!! I keep pacing the house knowing it is out there and something is coming back to get it!! (But it really isn’t as Dad threw it in the garbage can. Our pick up is tomorrow). I am sure when I go out to potty tonight, I will be trying to find it!! I am really whizzed at Mom!!!

All About Dogs Day 26 of Dog Facts:
1. The Beagle came into prominence in the 1300s and 1400s during the days of King Henry VII of England. Elizabeth I was fond of Pocket Beagles, which were only 9" high
2. Thirty percent of all Dalmatians are deaf in one or both ears. Because bulldogs have extremely short muzzles, many spend their lives fighting suffocation. Because Chihuahuas have such small skulls, the flow of spinal flow can be restricted, causing hydrocephalus, a swelling of the brain.
3. One kind of Pekingese is referred to as a “sleeve” because it was bred to fit into a Chinese empress’ sleeves, which was how it was often carried around.

Well can anybody say SUPRISE?!?! Bol. I think everyone was suprised including me when you saw me in the window, As another dog was scheduled to run yesterday, not me! But thank you all so much for your votes (Even if you had no idea they could be DOTD votes) yesterday! I reached my goal of 9,000 votes and I am loving being DOTD today because I am getting lots of love from mom! This is my second DOTD and there are still dogs out there that don't have their badges yet so hopefully the suprise runner yesterday, will be re-scheduled to a different day soon! Thanks again!

Our friends, from So. Lake Tahoe, CA at 4 a.m. on
a cold October, found little puppy running scared in the intersection, caught & brought to a nearby store. Our friends knew we were looking for a dog, that morning we visited him & both my children had LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT. Stanley was wearing a collar that was growing into his neck, his neck was all scabbed & raw, so many mouth warts it was freaky, & fur that felt like straw. With lots of love & good food Stanley went from a scared 10lb puppy who snapped at anyone who came near during meal times to becoming a gentle giant that babies could put their hands in his mouth and crawl all over him.
