Vermont Update
We received 5 3/4 inches of rain. Roads and buildings washed out all over the state and going down the rivers. 1 death reported so far. Power is out all over the state. We weathered the storm well and are safe and warm. Thanks for the prayers. Sassie, Angel and Maria

UPDATE ON WINCHESTER,VA:
Hi Diane, Franki, Kasi, Candy Sugar and Ms. Wooki!
Well, the Hurricane did damage some areas of Virginia, such as Norfolk and VA Beach, but although we had some winds and some rain, there was no significant damage in the Winchester and Frederick County area. We were prepared for the worst, but were grateful that it never came to that. Other than the wrestling show our son-in-law was to participate in (in Baltimore) and the local drive-in which cancelled the movies last night, it was pretty calm around our area. We had the dehumidifier on and didn't have any water damage in the basement. We hope that all our DC (and CC) friends are doing well! Love, Hugs, and Prayers, Pongo, Gaby, Hope and Mom Vickie

Vermont Update
4 1/2 inches of rain so far and it is still coming down hard. Do not have strong winds as of yet. Electricity is on. Flooding all over the state. We live high so don't have to worry about the rising water. We are safe. Sassie 49404 Angel 79728 and Maria

Hi...
We're just 3.5 hours north of NYC..and we still have rain, but no more wind at the moment. Now we just have to watch for flash flooding. Tequila

1.5 hours from NYC> very, wet but we never lost power (hope we don't) but it seems we are out of danger. Prayers for all in danger xoxo Jaxxy

As expected, Irene is now a tropical storm, according to the National Hurricane Center. The Northeast will continue to see heavy rain and flooding for the rest of the day.

Update: Thank you God...We made it through. The eye of the storm hit Coney Island about 15 minutes ago and it made landfall as a tropical storm. We made it without much difficulty. Lost power only for a short time during the night but we are not out of the woods yet. The back end of the storm is still hitting us. It is on its way up north and I pray by the time it gets there it will remain a tropical storm. Mom Lori, Buddy Bird, Sadie Cat, and JJ, 23249

10:25 pm here in Odenton Md.....
Been raining since abt noon and the wind is really picking up here now. Still have power (obviously!) but my Mom and sister don't. They are abt 45 mins south of us closer on the Chesapeake Bay. We are all ok. I'm watching the race and LilyPup is hiding. She hasn't peed since this morning & won't come out to use her pads. She has remarkable kidneys!! Our worst part is to come during the night after midnight. Hopefully I will sleep thru it. I swear the rain has not let up once all day.....hugs Joy and the Hiding Puppy
