How We Met?

.Missi Mae and her sister were born on January 3rd, 2009. Their mother was a Pekinese, and their father was a Tibetan Spaniel. All of the winter of 2008 and 2009, I had been searching for a dog, since at that time we only had Ruby. I was interested in small breeds, so I called my neighbor (who occasionally breeds the little dogs that she has), to ask if she had any puppies. She told me that she had some Pekingese puppies, and a male Yorkie who was 7 months old. So on February 16th, my neighbor brought the Peke (who turned out to be mixed with a Tibbie) puppies, and the Yorkie (who also turned out to be a mixed breed, but with lots of Yorkie in him) over to my house, so that I could look them all over.At the time I was only planning on getting ONE dog. The Peke/Tibbie puppies were not ready to be adopted, so I would have to wait about 2 weeks to get them. But the little Yorkie mix was free, and I couldn't NOT take him, so we decided to adopt him (Who is now BUTLER!)But before we decided to get Butler, I was trying to decide which of the puppies I wanted. One of them had a hernia, so she was fifty dollars cheaper, though that didn't really matter to me (the hernia, or the price). At first, I wanted to get the one without the hernia, but my neighbor told me that the vet had told her that the hernia was not a problem for the puppy. As I continued to look at the pups, I noticed how the black mask was larger on the one with the hernia (I like black masks lol). Finally, I decided on the one with the hernia, who is Missi! The hernia is not a problem for her at all, which is a very good thing. So that day, we kept Butler, and two weeks later (February 28th), Missi Mae came to live with me!Having both Missi and Butler really helped both of them to adapt and become happy and comfortable. They are best friends, and play and cuddle together all of the time :)

~~ Missi Mae, The Calf is Cute ~~

Daddy and Uncle Bob have been working on making Cheese Presses for this lady out of Maple in Daddy's workshop. Mommy said I drove her nuts yesterday with my constant whining, wanting Daddy to come back out of his workshop! I DID NOT DO THAT! First, I do NOT know how to drive anything so how could I drive her nuts? Secondly, if I was gonna drive someting of hers, it would be her CAR, not her nuts. I didn't even know she had any nuts much less one big enough to drive! Well my left eye looks much better but my right eye looks like my left eye did so Mommy is putting the eye drops in my right eye AND my left eye now! Daddy said it is probably my orneryness coming out! I don't think so, but if it is, they should be happy! After it all comes out, I should be a really good boy, wouldn't ya think? Now that my right eye looks like my left eye did, and it was crusty and had matter in the corner this morning, Mommy and Daddy talked it over and decided that it wouldn't hurt to use the eyedrops in the right eye, too. They wonder if I scratched the right eye as well as the left one. My left eye looks better, so for now, I get to "Double My Pleasure, Double My Fun." Eyedrops in 2 eyes instead of just 1! At Tricks Class yesterday we pretty much just reviewed what we already knew and practiced what we were supposed to be learning. Mommy and Daddy took our Hula Hoop along and we jumped through the hoop, too. We "performed" while customers in the store stopped and watched, Ooohed and Ahhed and told us how smart we are and how cute we are...all kinds of terribly embarrassing praise! I was probably more embarrassed about all the attention we were getting than Maya was. I mean, you know how much I hate being the center of attention. How I would rather just blend into the background rather than stand out and be noticed. After all, I am a shy little wallflower. I need someone to help draw me out of my shell so I can fully enjoy life and not be so introverted and maybe end up being a recluse. Well, I better go practice my socializing skills so I can try to draw myself out and be a little more extroverted in my encounters with others. How's that Calf?

Alas, it is true,I got a Boo-Boo! I've been being very good and pretty much minding this past week. I do, however, have a tendency to stick my nose in where it doesn't belong! I don't mean it in the sense that I stick it into other people's business, but literally. I keep sticking my nose, heck , I stick my whole head into tall grass, bushes, leaves on the ground, weeds, brush piles, pretty much anything that happens to catch my attention and be within my reach. hehehe Usually except for getting me hollered at for not paying attention to anything except what I am fixated on it is usually pretty harmless, but not this time. The last couple of days my eye was really getting what Mommy called "eye-boogers" in it. The left eye was the real culprit, here! Mommy kept cleaning it out. Well it kept getting this matter in the corner more and more often. On Friday morning,Mommy saw my eye was crusted up so she cleaned it and looked in my eye to see if she could see any foreign thing in there or anything. It was very bloodshot.Mommy knew I had had what looked like cherry eye once but before the doctor could see me, it cleared up. Mommy said you don't mess around with eyes! We had to go to the vets office to get the Heartworm and Flea and Tick medicine for me and Maya for May and my vet was working that day. She saw it was us getting the meds and came out to say Hi. Mommy asked her if she had a second to look at my eye. When she saw it she said she needed to put dye in it to check for corneal damage and scratches so she took me to the back. Well the good news is I don't have corneal damage, the BAD news is my eye is scratched!! Mommy has to put antibiotic drops that have a steroid in them in my eye 3 times a day! I am being really good about it! Mommy says she bets I don't learn my lesson, though. First chance I get that head will be right smack dab in the middle of something....no, make that EVERYTHING! I just can't help it. It must be the Dachshund in me that makes me follow my nose. I put it to the ground and I am like a bloodhound....Just call me "Snoopy Sniffer" and I am good at it, too!Maybe since the stuff I stick my head into messed up my eye, and my nose is so reliably on target, I should just close my eyes and follow my nose...you know what they say, "the nose knows" hehehe BOL! Maya is fine she hasn't been bit by any "wild bunnies" or anything! Together we are a handful! Mommy says any of our DC Friends that have more than 2 dogs are BRAVER than her...she says our 2 dogs, 3 cats and 2 birds are quite enough, thank you! You know what I told her? I said, "Your Welcome", I am very polite, ya know! PuppyDog Kisses and Tail Wags, Chewie Cairn Cuddles, Maya

Hi Missi!

Congrats on the new baby cow!! The pictures are great. Sorry to hear you won't be running for DOTM next month, but it's a good idea that you run when you can be on most. Hope you run soon! Can't wait to see pictures of your mom's Cockatiel when she gets him. They are just such nice birds :) We've had a couple of white faced ones in the past. They are really pretty. Mom likes the all-yellow ones too. And of course the "original" colors too, hehe! They're all pretty. Hope you're having a nice day! Sorry we have still not been active. We don't plan to be on normally again for another couple weeks. Well, we have news on the baby finches. They are all grown up!! Last Monday they flew away. We were lucky enough to have the chance to see it. We saw the babies up and looking out of the nest, and then the just hopped out and left. One of the babies mom got a picture of on the ground as it was leaving. And lately we've been watching the parents (maybe other birds, but they look like the same ones) make a nest in the tree next to the other one. Hmm, hopefully there will be more babies to watch then :) Well, mom got us some rawhides the other day. Brandon finished his big one in about an hour, BOL! Then the other night Brandon was running around more than he ever had before. He circled around the kitchen, on the couch, off the couch, downstairs, upstairs, and into the wall. He's so silly :) Today was nice and sunny, and we finally had some time to get out there and take some pictures. We plan on working on uploading everything tonight or tomorrow. The past few days we've been having computer problems, thankfully it was an easy fix and only took a couple minutes once we had time to work on it! Have a nice weekend! Left a vote, *hugs* Muffin, Brandon and Peanut

Hi Missi

TGIF. Hope you’ve had a great week. Sorry we have been MIA but it has been unavoidable. Tuesday mom finally went to the doctor for her knee & hand. Her right hand had been tingling so she figured she would just get them checked out. They did not find anything wrong with her knee & pretty much told her just to keep icing it & alleve or advil. As for her hand, they think she has carpal tunnel in her wrist. So she has to wear a brace 24/7 on her right hand & she is right handed. Anyway the brace kind of made it worse on Wednesday but now it seems to actually be improving. Last night mom was just getting on the computer to answer our blogs when she heard Abbie get mad at me. Since mom was in another room she did not see what happened. So mom put Abbie in her bedroom & proceeded to check me for bites. So mom looked me over & didn’t find anything right away but she did see traces of blood on her hand. Although I have never bitten, mom figured she better check Abbie. She couldn’t find anything on Abbie so it was back to checking me. She did eventually find where the blood had come from. It was me & I had a couple of scrapes on my skin where the skin had broken but no puncture wounds. So mom cleaned them with hydrogen peroxide & put Neosporin on them. We may not be on much during the next few weeks, most likely only on the weekends. Since Abbie has become so reactive, mom needs to spend more time working with her. When I started having seizures & got sick last year, our whole routine shifted & mom thinks there was probably a hierarchy change due to the fact that I was claiming so much more attention. Add to that the fact that mom wasn’t able to walk Abbie anymore due to people who tie their dogs out in the front yard. They let their dogs lunge & act like they are attacking. Well poor Abbie is blind so she really thinks she is getting attacked and reacts accordingly. German Shepherds get phobic & reactive if they’re not worked. So mom admits that she is mostly to blame by not walking Abbie. Mom has developed a plan of action for Abbie though & hopefully it will work. She is going to put Abbie in the car & drive her to the outskirts of town or somewhere in the country where there are no other dogs & walk her there. That way she will get a double workout. She will get her walk & her nose/brain will have to work really hard for her to interpret her surroundings. Mom did just that tonight. She took Abbie down by Rural King & the little strip mall. They walked about a mile along the road and then they walked around the whole strip mall parking lot. But mom didn’t let Abbie off that easily. She took Abbie inside Rural King where dogs are allowed. She was a big hit inside the store as Abbie has never met a face she didn’t lick. So she got attention from the store associates & them mom made her walk around the store also. They have baby chicks in there so Abbie got to smell & hear them also. So for now, there is

~:♦:~ • Hi Missi! • ~:♦:~

Ooooo the calf is just PRECIOUS!!!! That is so wonderful your mommy's family has a farm. We completely understand about it taking up a lot of time. A good way to spend one's time though, mom says. Are the black/white cows yours too? Mom's very interested in getting goats. I can't remember....do you have some? We're so sorry you won't be able to run for DOTM as planned...we're sure you were looking really forward to it. But if you ever have a good month to run, we'll be here to support you :) How is your spring going? We are enjoying ours very much and looking so forward to sUmMeR! It's been about 50°F every day but today it reached 70, woohoo! We have 4 feet of packed snow that will take a long time to melt. Mom is really looking forward to it all melting so she can go riding on the dirt bike trail that starts right next to our house. The other day she went riding with her dad and brother. They accidentally drove on someone's driveway and the guy came running out of his house giving them an obscene hand gesture. Boy was he mad. And it was just an accident! We'll be sure to never go THAT way again. (Wouldn't want to be fired on or something) BOL! Besides that they had a very enjoyable time and found some fun new trails :) Mom has been taking Peaka and me on bicycle rides every day and we are just loving them. Sure are pooped when we get back home though. hehe. On our walk Thursday evening I found a big [dead] DELICIOUS chicken. I was like, oh wow, someone must have left this here just for me! Yippee!! And then you know what?...Mom stole it!! (what in the world?!) but before she could, some of its body fluids got on me. I was like yum yum yum and mom ewwww ewwww ewwww. Bol....So mom drove me to the DIY dog wash in Soldotna. So much for chicken dinner.... There's something we'd like very much to share with you (well besides the chicken I was planning on inviting all my buddies over for, BOL) Mom just finished a little video of us doing one of our favorite things. It's our very first video and we sure hope you'll check it out: http://www.mypetsinaction.ws/ Pawing a -:¦:-Happy Spring!-:¦:- vote :) 8==8 Yukon
