261 ...~.:.*.:.~...A TIRESOME DAY...~.:.*.:.~...
EUGENE, OREGON WEATHER REPORT:
The temperature was high 45 & low was 28 this morning, now it's 32 with humidity 93% & wind is 0 MPH. Saturday's suppose to be AM Fog/PM Clearing & High 46.
Today's been a long and tiresome day for mom. She started her morning with getting up about 4:50 and fed the inside kitties then she got on the computer with checking emails and signing on CC & DC for a short time then off by about 7:30. Mom then took a gallon jug of hot water outside along with the kitty food to take care of the outside kitties. On mornings that freeze, mom always provides her outside kitties with warm water to drink and they all seem to like it. So anyways, mom comes back inside goes into Kittzi 160203 & Sylvr Tuff's 160205 room to add food to their bowl, fresh water, clean both litterboxes then spends time with them. Afterwards, mom cleans the two litterboxes in the front room, sweeps the frontroom and kitchen floors, gets Callie 34345 into her stroller, cleans her litterpan then goes outside in the front yard to clean up any poo and on the neighbor man's yard, too. By that time it's almost 9:00 and made sure the inside kitties ate including feeding Rhoamin 2921 his Meow Mix Market Select wet food with his MiraLax added, then mom washes his face as he still has Feline Acne. After all that's done, it's close to 9:30 and mom leaves to go do a few errands then over to Barb's apartment to gather all of Callie's belongings. Luckily, Barb's sister Gracie had help packing and hauling all of Barb's belongings out of there as it had to be out by tomorrow. Mom got home about 11:45 this morning and unloaded her car then the kitties bugged mom so mom took them outside for about 10 minutes or so. They were all happy after coming back in as they got their treats then fed then sleep!!!! Mom was finally able to make her a cheese sandwich then realized she had to go to pick up a food box so she did that then ended up doing her late afternoon chores with feeding the outside kitties. Mom then put Callie in the large dog crate for the night and put the stroller away. Finally, mom gets to sit down at the computer!!!! We're not sure how long we will be on tonight as mom is very tired.

260 ~*~HONORED BEING DOTM QUEEN~*~
EUGENE, OREGON WEATHER REPORT:
The temperature was high 47 & low was 35 this morning, now it's 43 with humidity 76% & wind is 0 MPH. Friday's suppose to be Partly Cloudy & High 47.
We are coming on later than normal tonight. Mom has been busy with the kitties as Rhoamin 2921 kept meowing and pacing then Bahneetah 10641 started in then Pappoose 10366. Mom told them they couldn't go outside today as it was way too cold even for mom. Mom finally got them settled down this afternoon.
I want to Thank You ALL DC & CC Friends for all your support everyday in November to help me earn my DOTM!!!! Thank you also for your sweet Congratulations on my pretty DOTM Badge!!!! Mom and Dad are so proud of me!!!!
I am so Honored to accept my freshly cleaned then polished Crown from Kings Riley & Chipper 39863.
I especially say Thank You to two wonderful friends who made beautiful DOTM pictures for me. The one at the bottom of my page in the gallery of me on the Plaque is provided by GOLDIE'S 110234 Momma Karen on DC and then BOO KITTY'S 154855 on CC Momma Jane. They took an old girl and made something of me!!!! BOL!!!!
I will work on my Thank Yous, but my kitty family will also take time to be on the computer again, too, this month.
Mom will also be busy the next few days helping Callie's 34345 on CC Aunt Gracie (Dad's Cousin) with Barbara's belongings in her apartment. The Manager gave Gracie 5 days to have the place cleared out which is wrong!!!!

EUGENE, OREGON WEATHER REPORT:
The temperature was high 42 & low was 55 this morning, now it's 42 with humidity 85% & wind is 9 MPH. Thursday's suppose to be Mostly Sunny☼ & High 45.
Plans has changed at the Knight family temporarilly!!!! Mom was set to deliver the posters to the pet stores this morning when mom asked dad if she should wait a couple days or so and he said YES!!!! Mom and dad both really has mixed feelings about finding another home for CALLIE KNIGHT 34345 on CC.
When mom checked on Callie this morning, she seen that Callie ate a good half of her kibbles, drank half of her water and went pee in the litterbox. Mom was very pleased and told Callie she was a good girl. Mom did get Callie's health records from her vet clinic and they even had a few pictures of Callie with her littermate sister Swatt 74475 on CC. Mom remembered seeing the pictures before from when Barb showed them to mom.
The nights are suppose to be down to freezing level all week so mom and dad brought the large dog crate that Callie's staying in into the kitchen and set it on the table so she will stay warm. Mom had Callie in her stroller most of the day and the kitties came to check her out then HISS SPAT GRRR went Callie as she lunged at them!!!! Mom told Callie NO and the kitties to stay back. They all settled down. Mom will see if things will work out for Callie to live here, but no promises!!!!
Now for me!!!! I want to Thank You ALL for your friendships of old and new on DC & CC for you wonderful support to me during my DOTM Dogpaign Trail!!!! Win or Lose, I got to visit and get to know so many as well as HOG the COMPUTER from the kitties!!!! BOL!!!! I do appreciate ALL of you!!!!

New Test Detects Canine Distemper in Recently Vaccinated Dogs
PREVENTING CANINE DISTEMPER: Insuring your dog receives her puppy shots in a timely manner is the best way to prevent CDV as well as the other potentially fatal canine diseases for which we administer core vaccines.
The new American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) vaccination guidelines now recommend re-vaccination for distemper every three years. However, the AAHA also makes note that CDV vaccines are known to provide protection against the disease for at least five years.
My recommendation for healthy dogs who were vaccinated by 16 weeks of age is to have your dog titered to test her immunity to the core diseases (distemper, parvo and, if indicated, adenovirus) every three to five years. Re-vaccinate only if for some reason the titer indicates your pet is not sufficiently protected against a particular disease – and allow only re-vaccination for the specific disease in question versus a combo vaccine.
The second thing I recommend, as always, is that you make sure your pet's immune system is balanced and functional. The best way to accomplish this is by feeding your carnivorous canine species-appropriate nutrition. Keep her well-exercised and at a healthy weight.
It's also very important that your pet's immune function isn't compromised by unnecessary vaccinations, overprescribed veterinary drugs and excessive use of heartworm and flea/tick preventives. .... By: Dr. Becker

New Test Detects Canine Distemper in Recently Vaccinated Dogs
NEUROLOGIC IMPAIRMENT: Some dogs who recover from systemic illness will go on to develop neurologic symptoms within one to two weeks. This can also occur around the same time in dogs who exhibited no symptoms of systemic illness.
In puppies infected in the womb or right after birth, there can be immediate, acute neurologic signs with no other symptoms present.
Neurologic impairment can also appear alongside systemic illness, or take months or even years to develop.
Symptoms depend on the area of the nervous system involved and can include:
1)Involuntary muscle twitching... 2)Seizure episodes sometimes called 'chewing gum fits'... 3)Lack of coordination of muscle movements... 4)Partial or complete paralysis of limbs
5)Brain disturbances & eye problems
Unfortunately, neurologic symptoms are typically not reversible and are often progressive.

New Test Detects Canine Distemper in Recently Vaccinated Dogs
SYMPTOMS: Often in the early stages of CDV infection there are no observable signs of illness, though the dog may have fever and a low white blood cell count.
If the dog's immune response is inadequate, eventually the virus moves to epithelial tissues and the central nervous system, and then one of three things typically occurs – the infection resolves on its own, the dog becomes a silent carrier, or the infection becomes systemic.
Silent carriers can infect other dogs. They may also develop thickening of the footpads and neurologic symptoms later on.
If a dog's immune system isn't adequate to defend against the infection, acute systemic illness will develop within a couple of weeks after exposure to the virus. Early symptoms can include:
1)Mild conjunctivitis (eyelid swelling).. 2)Discharge from the nose & eyes.. 3)Lethargy.. 4)Fever.. 5)Loss of appetite
As the infection progresses, there will be upper respiratory symptoms like coughing, shortness of breath and even pneumonia.
Gastrointestinal symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea with or without blood, and severe dehydration typically follow respiratory illness.
The severity of symptoms depends on the dog's immune response. In its mildest form, CDV is often confused with kennel cough. At the other end of the spectrum is sudden death as a result of the infection.

New Test Detects Canine Distemper in Recently Vaccinated Dogs
Canine Distemper Virus (CDV)
Canine distemper is one of the most dangerous infectious diseases in dogs.
CDV is second only to rabies in worldwide mortality rates.
CDV is actually closely related to human measles, and there was a time when puppies were given the measles vaccine to protect against distemper.
Despite its distinction as a canine virus, it infects not only puppies and unvaccinated dogs, but also other land-dwelling carnivores and marine mammals as well.
The severity of the infection depends on the strain, the host, and the animal's immune response and vaccination status.
Transmission of the virus happens primarily through exposure to respiratory secretions from infected dogs or by exposure to infected wildlife. It can also be spread though exposure to other bodily secretions like urine.
Viral shedding begins about seven days after infection and can continue for up to three months.
Fortunately, vaccines for canine distemper have dramatically reduced incidence of the disease in vaccinated adult dogs. Today, the disease is most common in locations with significant unvaccinated populations of dogs, or in wildlife reservoirs.
In the U.S., most victims today are puppies.

New Test Detects Canine Distemper in Recently Vaccinated Dogs
Idexx Reference Laboratories has developed a canine distemper virus (CDV) test that determines whether a dog has the virus even though he's been recently vaccinated against it.
The reason for the test, according to Idexx, is to accurately diagnose dogs recently adopted from kennels and shelters who develop CDV symptoms within days of arriving at their new homes.
It's important for owners of recently adopted dogs and their vets to determine whether the new pet has distemper in spite of having been vaccinated.
Early diagnosis of distemper versus other less serious conditions can help pet owners and veterinarians be better informed and forewarned about possible neurologic problems down the road, as well as what types of treatment and therapy are most appropriate.
