Hi Everyone- wow! I haven't been on here in FOREVER! But sadly, I probably won't ever be as active as I was before, back in the good ol' days. I miss you all soooo much and I have made SO many GREYT friends on this wonderful site. Mom just doesn't have time to blog for me, or my kitty bro Sam that much anymore. She's going to be starting school again in late August (sophomore in high school) and will probably never have time to even play games on the computer, much less blog for me. If only I could actually learn how to type! :-( Oh, I would also like to say how much my heart warmed at the birthday messages. You all are the sweetest. I miss every single one of you SO MUCH and I love every single one of you SO MUCH and I will never forget all the greyt friends and mommies and daddies on here! You guys ROCK! Much, much love, greyt big hugs, and kisses! LOVE FOREVER, Sparkle* ♥

How We Met?

The Gold Coast Greyhound Adoptions rescue greyhounds that are either too old to race, are injured, or haven't won much races. They bring adoptable greyhounds to Largo PetSmart every Saturday and have people interact with the dogs... and make them fall in love. When I fell in love with Sparkle, it was when we already had a greyhound, Luxor. We brought him to PetSmart every Saturday to see his foster mom and play with the owner of Gold Coast Greyhounds. They have all the adoptable dogs in a large pen, smack in the middle of the store, so you see them right when you walk in. As usual, I played with the greys, but one caught my eye. Love at first sight. Her name was Sparkle and it suited her just fine. Since I begged and begged my parents to let me get her, she became my dog and I became the owner.I can't believe this, but mommy left out the most important part of how we met. Mommy and her sister were having a lemonade stand, all profits going to the Gold Coast Greyhounds. They made about $26.00, not much, but it was worth it when Mommy walked in PetSmart to hand over the money. That's where the real fun began. (;Check out my YouTube Videos! DAY FOUR OF MY DOTM RUN (MOOSE MOOKO 162309) I had internet problims so I didn't send many blogs yester day so I'm sending yesterday's today. Thank you all for your support. I will be posting a new DOTM photo daily, which you can only see for the day, also I am posting facts on pets and pet nutrition at the end of all my DOTM blogs. Hope you have a good day. ~Facts of the day~ Cape Parrot I. The Cape Parrot or Levaillant's Parrot is a large, temperate forest dwelling Poicephalus parrot endemic to South Africa. It has 2 subspecies which may be considered distinct species, the savanna dwelling Brown-necked Parrot and Grey-headed Parrot. II. The Cape Parrot is a short-tailed moderately large bird with a very large beak used to crack all sorts of hard nuts and fruit kernels, especially those of African yellowwood trees Podocarpus spp.. This contrasts with closely the related savanna species (Poicephalus fuscicollis) which feeds on and a wide variety of tropical woodland trees such as Marula. III. Juveniles also show a larger orange - pink patch on the forehead but lack the red on shoulders and legs of adults. IV. The Cape Parrot is endemic to South Africa. It occurs in Afromontane forests at moderate altitudes in eastern South Africa from the coastal escarpment near sea-level to the midlands at around 1000m. These forests occur as a series of small patches around the south and east of South Africa and are dominated by Yellowwood trees V. Cape Parrots have a disjunct distribution with the largest population around in the Amathole mountains of the Eastern Cape Province and extending east, with several large gaps, through the Mthatha escarpment and Pondoland in the Eastern Cape and the southern midlands of KwaZulu-Natal Province to Karkloof, near Pietermaritzburg.

Hi Sparkle

Hope you all are doing well. We're ok here for the most part. Weather has been up and down, warm one day and chilly the next, then warm again. Been a rainy weekend this weekend. I got a big box of goodies in the mail the other day from Hill's Science Diet. Something Big Sis won for me, she says, from a random drawing contest from one of the pages she follows on Facebook. There was a bag of food, 6 cans of food, a can food cover, a couple bags of treats, a blanket, a water fountain, and a leash, as well as a lunch bag and water bottle. Mom's been busy as usual with substitute teaching and church stuff. Big Sis has been a bit under the weather the last week or so with a nagging cough and slightly stuffy nose. She says it's slowly getting better, as she doesn't think she's coughing as much and has been coughing stuff up, but she wishes it was gone already. Mom's boyfriend is sick this weekend, too, with what he thinks is food poisoning. Hopefully they'll both be feeling better soon. Big Sis and her boyfriend didn't do anything special for Valentine's Day, but he did surprise her by showing up at her office with balloons and a box of chocolates. Big Sis is still trying to get around to getting her one book set up as an e-book. She may try to work on it later. She also wants to start working on the young adult mystery book she planned out a few months ago. Hopefully she'll be able to find the time to do so soon.

How are you doing? Is it wintery there? Guess what! It snowed! It started earlier this week and we got about 8 inches. We also got a long power cut! And several smaller ones. This is the first snowstorm we've had all winter and we thought that perhaps we'd finally have a winter without snow. I played in it and got the major zoomies and bouncies. It's so much fun! And, if that wasn't enough excitement, our first goat kids were born right when the snow started. They are doing well and are very cute. The week before last we were at the coast so I've got tons of catching up to do. We had an amazing time. I just love running in the sand and surf. And we had a nice mix of sun and rain. Personally I prefer the sun but mama says the rain makes it so she doesn't feel so guilty when she's being lazy. On sunny days we went hiking and exploring. Best of both worlds? Yep! I posted some photos of our time at the beach. I'll post more as mama goes through them. And one of Kermit there too. And in my main photo you can see me with one of the new babies. Here's a vote for you.

DAY TWO OF MY DOTM RUN (MOOSE MOOKO 162309) Thank you all for your support. I will be posting a new DOTM photo daily, which you can only see for the day, also I am posting facts on pets and pet nutrition at the end of all my DOTM blogs. Hope you have a good day. ~Facts of the day~ Belgian Malinois: I. Like all Belgian Shepherds, the Malinois is a medium-sized and square-proportioned dog in the sheepdog family. The Malinois has a short mahogany coat with black overlay. It has black erect ears and a black muzzle. It has a square build in comparison to the German Shepherd. II. Due to its history as a working dog (i.e., being bred for function over form), the Malinois can vary greatly in appearance. The acceptable colors of pure-bred Malinois are a base color fawn to mahogany with a black mask and black ears with some degree of black tipping on the hairs, giving an overlay appearance. The color tends to be lighter with less black agouti or overlay on the dog's underside, breeching, and inner leg. Dogs with grey and black shorthairs used to meet the Malinois standard, but are no longer considered to do so. III. Well-raised and trained Malinois are usually active, friendly, protective, and hard-working. IV. Some may be excessively exuberant or playful, especially when young. V. They can be destructive or develop neurotic behaviors if not provided enough stimulation and exercise. These are large, strong dogs that require consistent obedience training, and enjoy being challenged with new tasks. They are known as being very easy to obedience train, due to their high drive for rewards.

Hi Sparkle

PLEASE VOTE FOR MAYA'S BOYFRIEND CHIP in the Brightest Smile Contest #20736 ........THANKS! It seems like we are so far behind We see our tails in front of us!!! I started yapping at Mommy about it and she just said "welcome to my world" and chuckled, rolled her eyes and continues to try to get some of my blogging done! BOL! Funny, I thought me and Maya were already in her world! Go figure.....these humans have the funniest expressions. They say things they mean then turn around and say things when they mean the opposite. For instance, I hear Mommy say to daddy, or vice versa, "That's okay, don't get up I can handle this just fine by myself"....translation: "Get up off your LAZY butt and give me a hand here"....BOL! They don't mean what they say! Then, when they call me and say, "Chewie, come here." Or when I am running off to explore, and I hear, " Chewie, come back here", or they tell me to not run off and I don't come there, come back or I DO run off, I am in trouble because "didn't you hear what I said"? "Listen to me"......They meant EXACTLY what they said, not the opposite this time,.......How do you know when they mean it and when they mean the opposite? I thought they WANTED me to not come and to take off running! I can't win!! Maya pretty much doesn't get in much doo-doo like I do unless we are rough housing and then we BOTH get it not just one of us! How come she hardly EVER gets in trouble by herself?! Back to expressions, they say so and so has a "heart of gold" now that's impossible. Even tho' I'm only a year old (okay, I will be in 3 more days), even I know a heart can't pump blood if it were made of gold, so why did they say that? Why didn't they just say they really care about others? or something similar! Humans! You gotta love 'em bless their hearts! Then they wonder why I get confused and don't know what I am supposed to do and not do? We need to teach them that CONSISTENCY is the key...... Say what you mean And mean what you say And your dog will mind you Day after day ~~ a short poem by Chewie Left a vote (first one in March) Puppy Kisses and Tail Wags, Chewie Cairn Cuddles, Maya
