Happy Birthday!!!
to your mama. I hope she has a wonderful birthday tomorrow with all of her favourite things.
I finally got a chance to do a little blogging. How are you all doing? I bet you're not enjoying all this heat. It seems the whole country has been hit by a heatwave. Oh boy, I have not written properly since the 4th. I thought it was hot back then but now, oh my. 110 yesterday, 10% humidity, and dry thunderstorms today. So far it's been alright. But we are very worried about forest fires. All the conditions are perfect for one. One of the lightning strikes hit right outside the window where I'm typing. Wow, a bit too close for comfort!
Mama took me, (with Kermit and Tuna in the basket) on a bike ride yesterday. I think she was crazy to do it in this extreme heat but she was feeling stir crazy. I ran loose alongside the road in the forest where it was a bit cooler. But still, it really was too hot. We only went about 4 miles.
The other day we went hiking across the road in the national forest. It is so dry that the dust is several inches thick on the unpaved road and billows up in the air. Mama says it's like walking on the surface of the moon. Like she would know. Has she ever been there?
I don't know if you remember but earlier this month our garden was being dug up and generally made a mess of by some night time creatures. Well I, yes me, discovered who these mysterious creatures are.
In the middle of the night I was on my way to bed and mama was already inside. Suddenly she heard me barking frantically and she came out to investigate. I had found a young opossum and was holding it at bay. She admired it and said oh how cute it was then she told me to wait and she ran in and got the camera. I kept it there until she returned and snapped some photos. I uploaded one of them on my page.
And yes, we went hking up in the mountains again. We had to ascend to almost 8000 feet this time to hit snow. It was about 80 degrees up there, so 20 degrees cooler than our valley, and the glaciers were melting. The rocks were super hot and right next to them was snow. You could here the running of water deep beneath. The snow is so thick it keeps itself cold.
It was spectacularly beautiful and I loved running on the cool snow. Mama got some photos and video of me. I hope she'll make a movie about that too. In the meantime, I uploaded a few of those photos on my page.
I hope you're enjoying your weekend. We have a strange dog here right now. He kept mama up all night by howling. He's lost but doesn't have a tag so we're trying to find his rightful owner. He looks like a chow/rottweiler mix and is ever so sweet. He knows some tricks too so he must have a loving owner.
I have so much more to say but mama has just been so busy that we are having trouble keeping up. Just about every appliance has broken down. I'd make a list but I think I'd run out of blogging space. Needless to say, it's kept us busy and has not been cheap. Here's a vote for you an
