Since 1990, the Delta Society has offered its Pet Partners Program, which screens and trains volunteers and their pets to visit people at hospitals, nursing homes, schools, rehabilitation centers, and other places. More than 5,400 Pet Partner teams now help more than 900,000 people annually throughout the United States and six countries.

Northeast residents may also contact The Good Dog Foundation, the largest professional animal-assisted therapy group in the New York tri-state area (New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut). This organization, based in Brooklyn, NY, trains dogs for use in health care centers and community centers. Its motto: "Because Good Dogs Are Good Medicine."

You should have listed Therapy Dogs Inc as well. They are a national program with a large membership. They are based out of Colorado. Check out the web page www.therapydogs.com.
