itself. Once that happens, you can ask your dog to do it more than once. Have it roll over twice or three times. Teach a command for each: "Three roll overs!" or "Two roll overs!" Impress your friends with your dog's ability to count!
Crawl. Have your dog lie down. Put one hand on its shoulder. Your other hand, holding a treat, should move away from your dog, starting in front of its nose, as you say "Crawl!" Your dog should follow your moving hand, while your hand on its shoulder prevents it from getting up and walking to the treat. In the beginning, ask your dog to crawl only a couple of inches; later it can crawl much farther.
Play Dead. Have your dog lie down on its side or back with its head down. Say "Stay! Dead dog!" and have it hold completely still for a few seconds. As your dog understands that "Dead dog" means "Be still," eliminate the Stay command and wait to release the command.
Trick training is limited only to what you want to teach your dog. Teach it to sit up and beg, maybe even to dance. What would you and your dog enjoy?
