Mom and Duchess |
Since my mom now lives in an
assisted-living facility, it is up to me to help her take care of her pets. I get all their pet food, treats and toys. I also needed to find a groomer that we liked to groom her Yorkie, Duchess.
Mom had been using a mobile groomer, but it was kind of expensive and not as practical now that she had moved. I found a large pet retailer very close to her and discovered they also do grooming. The first time we had her groomed there, we were both happy with how Duchess looked, and Duchess also seemed at ease there.
Last weekend, I picked up Duchess at 8:30 and took her over to the groomer for a makeover. They offered a package that included a conditioner for her coat, the trim and even teeth brushing. I decided to go for the whole package. Even with the extras, it was quite a bit less than the former groomer, and since Mom is on a fixed income, that is important.
I picked Duchess up about four hours later. She looked beautiful and was in great spirits. She is about 10 years old, but you would never know it by looking at her last Saturday. She had a real spring in her step and was beaming. When we went back into Mom’s building, Duchess went up to all the residents as if to show off her new “do.”
Mom was happy, too, and that’s the important thing. I’m so glad I was able to find a place that allowed her to keep her pets with her, because they bring so much joy to her life.
