I am very excited to join DogChannel as its newest blogger. I am the consumer marketing manager for DOG FANCY, Dog World, and Dogs for Kids. In addition to that responsibility, I have been a professional pet sitter for the past three years.
I can’t have a dog where I live now, so I’m happy my pet sitting allows me to interact with lots of different dogs. I’ve learned so much through my experiences, which I will be sharing in this blog. Many of my clients ask me to stay overnight with their precious pooches.
I’ve stayed with three retrievers and 10 cats (in one household), an elderly Shiba Inu, and a yellow Lab with Cushing’s disease, diabetes, and a gas problem. I’ve taken care of a six-month-old Jack Russell Terrier, a Maltese puppy whose yips can pierce your eardrums, and two Italian Greyhounds who have to be under the covers at night. One of my favorites is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Ruby who loves to cuddle with me.
In my three years of pet sitting, I’ve never been bitten by a dog and never even had one growl at me. In my upcoming entries, I’ll tell you more about some of my doggie clients and my tips and tricks for making the pet sitting experience positive for the dogs, my clients, and me.
