Inhalation of solid objects or aspiration of food or water can cause acute airway spasm and mechanical blockage, especially in an animal with a small airway size and lung capacity. Acute allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis can also obstruct air flow and cause severe disruption of cardiopulmonary function.

Spinal trauma, such as rupture of intervertebral disks, can result in paralysis of the diaphragm and suffocation if the disk disease damages responsible areas of the spinal cord.

My Poodle has a (rabies vaccine) lump between her shoulders. It has been six months of the Vets saying "It will go away". I only pray she has not developed a life threatening cancer. Vaccinate? NEVER AGAIN.
