Groom Your English Cocker Spaniel
Grooming the English Cocker Spaniel revolves around coat, ear, and muzzle care.

The fuzzy-pawed English Cocker requires regular trimming of hair between foot pads. "If you don't trim their paws, they'll come inside with four wet, muddy mops, and you'll have paw prints everywhere," Wallace warns.
"Field-bred English Cocker Spaniels have a harder coat. It's almost a short coat, similar to a Brittany's, and some people take a number 10 clipper to them before a hunt," Romanski says. It's easier than cutting out the burdocks!
Don't forget that those beautiful show dogs you see on TV take work. "This isn't the most high-maintenance of any breed in grooming, but I don't think people realize what it takes to get an English Cocker to look like a show dog. They may have less hair than the American Cockers, but they still have a lot of hair, and that takes some maintenance," Wallace says.
