It’s the peak of the summer heat and your dog is probably lying on the hard, bare floor looking at you like, “what’s up with this heat?”
Laura Guelde Burgess, owner of STAM Dog Treats, has the perfect recipe to keep your dog cool and occupied during these long summer days.
Beat the Heat Treat Stuffer (makes 7- 8)
Ingredients:
- 1 can wet dog food
- ¼ cup plain yogurt
- ¾ cup berries (frozen or fresh)
- ½ cup water (add more if mixture is too thick)
Liquefy the above in a blender. Arrange any type of treat stuffing toy in a tupperware dish with the opening facing up. If the toy is open at both ends place the smaller opening flat against the bottom of the dish to keep the mixture from leaking out. Pour mixture into toys and freeze overnight.
If you don’t have a toy that is made for treat stuffing, you can make doggy cubes by simply filling paper cups with the treats. When frozen, simply peel the paper cup away and give it to your dog.
