Water destinations are the hottest spots to cool off.
By Sally Deneen

Nothing says summer fun like whooping it up on the water. But where should you go to get wet? For Susan E. and her five dogs, the answer is cruising on a patio boat to the islands in the middle of Shasta Lake in Northern California.

Once docked, the dogs sometimes jump out to swim the final distance. “They smell the islands before we get there, and they go into their howling routine,” says Susan of California. “They get so excited.”
