Lassie’s Legacy

Like the famed TV dog, the Collie has brains, beauty, and a loving nature.

With a wagging tail and eyes that say, “Hello, and welcome,” Sunny, at 12 years old, still serves as official greeter at Bob and Sally F.’s orchard and roadside fruit stand in Connecticut.

“Sunny thinks her job is to greet people,” says Bob, president of the Collie Club of America and a breeder for 50 years. “People love to see her and ask for her if she’s not around.”

Bob says his customers’ children want to see Sunny, too. “Parents will take kids to her so the children can give her a hug,” he says. “She especially enjoys attention from kids and wags her tail when they hug her. Sunny is as drawn to children as they are to her.”
