‘No assembly required’
Bred to scale the rugged countryside in northwest Italy’s Piedmonte district, Spinoni Italiani welcome rough terrain and challenging hunts afield. The breed points and retrieves a range of upland and water fowl, as well as small furry animals, making it an all-around versatile hunter, says Deb D., a Spinone fancier in South Dakota.

“They come ready to hunt, right out of the box,” she laughs, recalling when her first Spinone, Raisuli, went hunting for pheasants as a puppy, successfully bringing home three birds despite no training whatsoever. “There really isn’t a lot of assembly required. They are just really ready to go, though I wouldn’t recommend doing it that way.”
