With a challenging economic environment and the general stress of travel, dog owners may opt for a “staycation” this summer. But when we stay put, how do we find the fun?
“One trick I’ve found is to view myself as a tourist,” says Nancy M. of Massachusetts, owner of 4-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Ti. “When I studied a local map as though a vacationer, I discovered we lived a short distance from a dog-friendly area with a boat ramp.” Nancy, her husband, and Ti had lunch on the waterfront, launched a kayak, and explored the rivers near home, with Ti on the bow.
