Handy Dandy Andy had a cute name but a lousy disposition. Barely 8 pounds, the white Toy Poodle was an unrepentant biter. Anything that came in his path, he chomped.
But a couple of months after being taken in by San Francisco-based Rocket Dog Rescue, he found a home with an 80-something adopter who loved his gentle, cuddly nature.
Dandy Andy’s transformation was possible because of a foster home, in which rescue dogs live in a family environment until their forever homes materialize. In his case, up-close attention soon revealed what was making him so ornery.
