You can’t find a holistic veterinarian until you know what you’re looking for. Some people think of this as an either-or situation — practitioners are either holistic veterinarians or they are not. In reality, to be a good holistic veterinarian, a practitioner also has to be a good veterinarian.
“We expect our students to already have a good foundation in veterinary medicine, in subjects such as anatomy, before they attend our courses,” says Pedro Rivera, DVM, owner of The Healing Oasis Wellness Center, an institution that provides training in integrative veterinary healthcare.
