Sandy D’Andrea set her plate on the table and turned around to answer the telephone. When she turned back, her lunch was gone. “The whole thing was gone — the sandwich, the plate, the utensils — like I never made it. Not a trace,” she says.
A breeder, owner, and handler in Lockport, N.Y., D’Andrea says that no matter how good they want to be, Mals will always make their own decisions when it comes to food. D’Andrea’s champion, Costello, won Best in Show at the American Kennel Club/Eukanuba National Championship in January 2006.
