From Italy, with Love

The docile and devoted Bolognese delights in your constant companionship.
Vicki Shields

Sometimes there just aren’t enough hours in the day. Depending on the season or day of the week, Spunky, an 8-year-old Bolognese, might be visiting a school or nursing home, routing trespassing critters from his yard, or wowing audiences with the costumes and accessories he models in doggie fashion shows.

“Wherever Spunky goes, he gets attention and loves it,” says owner Nancy Benson, of Livermore, Calif., treasurer of the Bolognese Club of America. “A Bolognese wants to be included in everything that’s going on, just to be with his owners,” she says. “At home they’re little Velcro dogs. They shadow you wherever you go because they need to know where everyone is and what everyone’s doing. They love people any way, any how.”
