When Heather Grutz’s Golden Retriever Boo was diagnosed with lymphoma last year, she immediately began researching it. She consulted with a veterinary oncologist and a homeopathic veterinarian, and ultimately decided to pursue an aggressive chemotherapy regimen and a dietary makeover.
“We eat a lot of organic food, and I feed organic food to my 2-year-old daughter,” Grutz says. “After doing the research about cancer, I started doing the organic stuff with Boo.”
Grutz, of Shoreline, Wash., now feeds 5-year-old Boo a low-carbohydrate, no-grain diet. In addition to his low-carb kibble, Boo receives a canned food made of organic poultry and well water.
