One Saturday afternoon, my dog, Mandy, and I were wondering what to do. We thought -- well, I thought -- for awhile. Then an idea popped into my head. We should go to the zoo! I told Mandy and she started wagging her tail excitedly.
When I told my mom and dad, they thought it was a great idea, too. They said that we should bring Mandy’s stroller to put her in. This would be a fun day for Mandy, since she had only seen dogs and cats.
We left for the zoo. In the car, Mandy and I passed the time by doing tricks that were easy to do while traveling. One of them was sitting up and barking four times when I asked her what two plus two was. Playing in the car made time go by faster.
We eventually got to the zoo and Mandy’s tail started to wag uncontrollably since she was so excited. Dad found a close parking spot and then we got out.
I went around to the back of the car to get Mandy’s stroller and I put her in it. She started to smell the aroma of buttery popcorn, hot dogs and stinky animal cages.
We went to go pay and Mandy got in for free! Then we started our little adventure inside the zoo.
Mandy was so excited to see so many different animals, other than dogs and cats like she usually sees. This day was very special for her.
Mandy’s favorite building was the aquarium. It was cold where the penguins were. She loved watching the penguins swim and splash around in the water.
After we saw all the animals, we went on the train. Mandy sure did love the wind blowing in her face and when the train whistle blew, she sat up and started barking. I had to hold on to her tightly; otherwise, she would fall out.
After the train ride, we went to the IMAX to see a great movie. The movie was about animals and their habitats. Before the movie started and we were about to sit down, Mandy was licking up popcorn and candy that was still on the floor from the last movie. It must be a pretty bad staff to not clean up real well!
We had a fun day and our zoo adventure was over. We left for home. It was a spectacular and exhausting day, which made Mandy and me fall asleep in the car. Mom and Dad woke us up when we got home. Mandy had a terrific day, but she was really glad to be home again.
When we got in the house, without any warning, Mandy immediately threw up on the floor. We weren’t exactly sure why, but we guessed it was probably because of all the stuff she licked up on the floor. Even though that happened, it didn’t mess up our fun day…well, maybe Mandy’s.
