Questions of when life begins or ends raise issues of profound significance. The answers often involve theological, secular, legal, ideological, and political considerations. Although these matters raise provocative – often divisive – debates for humans, they rarely concern the dog fancy. But a recent court ruling in my home state of Minnesota brings these matters home to the canine community.
