I’m lucky enough to live near the ocean and participate in outrigger canoeing, a sport that puts me on the water three times a week. Going to the harbor is always a treat – I’m sure to see lots of dogs and their active owners. In fact, judging from their love of dogs and the outdoors, it wouldn’t surprise me if some of those people are Dog World readers.
Last week, I was blessed with the sight of three Bedlington Terriers, perfectly groomed and safely decked out in flotation vests, enjoying a cruise on their owners’ yacht. Last night, I saw a yellow Lab puppy learning to heel as he followed his owner along the boardwalk, and a Jack Russell Terrier happily perched at the helm of his owner’s kayak.
A Portuguese Water Dog named Catalina is another frequent visitor to our calm beach. She has the time of her life chasing after never-ending flocks of seagulls, and greeting sun-worshipers with friendly nose nudges.
At the harbor, I get more than nice views and ocean breezes. I get dogs as far as the eye can see. Lucky me.
