First Road Trip
A few weeks ago, my husband and I embarked on our first overnight trip with our Miniature Poodle puppy, Jager. We made reservations at the only dog-friendly hotel in the area, packed up the car and hit the road.
I've owned dogs in the past, but I've never traveled with one. Nothing could have prepared me for what I experienced on that trip that weekend.
Each evening, we walked Jager up and down the boardwalk. Everywhere we went, people came up to us and asked to pet him. Some inquired about his breed, commented on the way he walks, or talked about their own Poodles. Jager strutted in the typical Poodle prance, which never failed to delight. One of the hotel employees said to me, "He walks like he has clouds on his feet."
We spent a lot of time talking to a sweet couple who left their female black Miniature at home. They were so taken with Jager; they fawned all over him and told us stories about their own Poodles. We promised to take the same route on our walk the next night, and as we walked up the boardwalk, we saw them sitting on the same bench, waiting for Jager and grinning from ear to ear!
At least 50 people approached us over the course of two days. I couldn't believe it! It was so much fun and Jager loved the attention. Our first trip was a huge success.
