A Little Help from Our Herbs

All the shampoo and conditioner in the world can’t create a luxurious vibrant coat for your dog; that can only result from good health. However, a wonderful, inexpensive homemade rinse can further enhance the coat (use after shampooing).

By Deva Khalsa, V.M.D.

Healthy rinse (or spray)
2 tablespoons chopped rosemary leaves
2 tablespoons chopped lavender leaves
2 tablespoons apple-cider vinegar

Place ingredients in a glass or enamel pot and add 6 cups of water. Bring to a boil then immediately remove from heat. Let the mixture sit for a few hours, then strain and store.

From the book "Dr. Khalsa’s Natural Dog" (Bowtie Press, 2009)
