Based on recent press reports, Britney Spears won’t win Mother of the Year anytime soon. To add to her woes, Spears has now been voted the World’s Worst Celebrity Dog Owner for 2006.
The singer beat Paris Hilton, last year’s pick, in a three-month online poll by readers of The New York Dog and The Hollywood Dog magazines.
“Britney was the overwhelming choice,” said editor Hilary O’Hagan in a statement. “She once had three Chihuahuas [Lacy, Lucky, and Bit-Bit] and never left home without at least one of them on her arm. As soon as she met K-Fed and had kids they disappeared.” One of the dogs, Lucky, reportedly took an instant dislike to husband Kevin Federline. “It was either Mr. Federline or Lucky,” said O’Hagan. “Unfortunately Britney chose the wrong dog and the rest is history.”
Oprah Winfrey was voted this year’s World’s Best Celebrity Dog Owner by the magazines’ readers. The TV talk show host owns five dogs who reportedly each have their own nanny.
