Tiny Dog Receives Big Honor

Eight-pound Midge named smallest drug-detection dog by Guinness Book of World Records.

Midge, the tiny drug-detection dog for Geauga County in Ohio, is making news again.

The 8-pound Chihuahua-Rat Terrier mix has now set the world record as the smallest drug dog on the planet. The Guinness Book of World Records confirmed the honor and sent the Geauga County Sheriff’s Department a certificate to recognize the achievement.

Midge has been featured in media reports from Switzerland to China. Fans have sent her a steady stream of gifts, including hand-painted portraits, scarves and a camouflage vest.

“Midge is the little dog, the underdog,” Sheriff McClelland, Midge’s “boss” and trainer, told Ohio’s WKYC-TV. “It’s the fact that a small dog is doing big things that’s so impressive.”

I think its wonderful that a breed other than Labs, Shepherds or such as starting to be used in detection. Cool. Little dogs don't have to stay on the porch anymore.
