It’s already been a year of change for Britney Spears. She’s newly separated, jumping back into the party scene … and apparently the new owner of a Chihuahua puppy.
According to People.com, Spears spent Wednesday afternoon shopping for a dog in a Bel Air pet store with 16-month-old son Sean Preston and manager Larry Rudolph in tow. They left an hour or so later with Spears holding a sweater-swathed pale Chihuahua puppy, who looked surprisingly similar to her onetime constant companion Bit Bit.
Spears actually had three Chihuahuas (Lacy, Lucky, and Bit Bit) before she got hitched to soon-to-be-ex Kevin Federline. “She [never] left home without at least one of them on her arm,” says The New York Dog editor Hilary O’Hagan. “As soon as she met K-Fed and had kids they disappeared.”
One of the dogs, Lucky, reportedly took an instant dislike to husband Kevin Federline. “It was either Mr. Federline or Lucky,” said O’Hagan. “Unfortunately Britney chose the wrong dog and the rest is history.”
Spears was recently voted the World’s Worst Celebrity Dog Owner for 2006. The singer beat out new pal Paris Hilton, last year’s pick, in a three-month online poll by readers of The New York Dog and The Hollywood Dog magazines.
