Ever wondered what types of dogs are most favored by pet owners in one of America’s most glamorous cities? Well, the American Kennel Club has announced the Top 10 most popular AKC-registered dogs in the Big Apple for 2006.
Here’s a look at New York City’s recently released statistics as they compare to the rest of the country:

The increasingly popular Havanese shot up to the sixth spot in the Big Apple, but is ranked 38th on the national list.
The Bulldog ranked No. 6 in 2005, but moved on to fourth with New Yorkers in 2006. The Bulldog is ranked 12th on the national list. Among the least registered breeds in New York City, according to the AKC, are the Newfoundland, Dalmatian and Belgian Sheepdog.
