For singer Pink, first came every dog owner’s worst nightmare: her beloved Bulldog, Elvis, drowned in the swimming pool of her Los Angeles home.
Then, days later, tabloids reported that the Doylestown, Pa., native was going to stage an elaborate funeral for the dog, who died on Jan. 17, complete with a mini-Graceland crypt, canine pallbearers, and a 70-piece orchestra to play Elvis songs. One report even stated that the singer planned to erect a huge marble statue with the dog’s likeness in her garden.
Pink’s spokesperson, Michele Schweitzer, denied the reports, which circulated on a number of celebrity-news blogs, in an interview with the Associated Press, saying that while the dog “was a member of the family,” the reports are “both 100 percent false and 100 percent horrifying.”
Schweitzer also said that Elvis, who was given to Pink (aka Alecia Moore) by her longtime friend Lisa Marie Presley, had been in Pink’s pool many times before and that the death came as a shock to the singer.
