Animal welfare organization St. Hubert’s invites New Jersey-area pet lovers to their fancy fundraiser this weekend. On March 24, both canine and human guests will enjoy fine dining, dancing, and entertainment at the Birchwood Manor, located at 111 North Jefferson Road in Whippany, N.J.
"We're very excited about this year's event,” said Elizabeth McCorkle, president of St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center in Madison, N.J. “It's our seventh Cotillion, but there is always something new and different for two- and four-legged guests.”
Highlights this year will include a celebrity appearance by young actress and dog lover, Abigail Breslin, star of the movie “Little Miss Sunshine.” Guests will be dazzled by the dog-themed décor, and enjoy a gourmet dinner with their dogs, cocktails, music and dancing. Posh pooches will be treated to doggie delicacies at the “Bone Appetit” Dog Bar, courtesy of Bon Chien. Silent and live auctions will add to the festivities. This year’s sponsors include Schering-Plough Animal Health and the HomeAgain Pet Recovery Service.
“Most people love the opportunity to have a night on the town with their dogs. After all, how often can you put on the dog with your dog?,” McCorkle said. “Everyone has so much fun — and knowing that attendees are raising funds for homeless dogs and cats make the evening all that more special.”
The Canine Cotillion will help raise much-needed funds to feed, shelter and provide care for the nearly 4,000 animals that find safe refuge at St. Hubert’s animal shelters in Madison and North Branch, N.J., each year.
