‘It’s Me Or The Dog’ Looks for Unruly Canines

Casting call for misbehaved dogs TV series to take place in Los Angeles.

Posted: August 22, 2008, 5 a.m. EDT

There’s hope for owners of one or more out-of-control dogs: Producers of “It’s Me Or The Dog” are seeking dog owners who are ready for the ultimate doggie boot camp.

At an open casting call Saturday, Aug. 23, in West Hollywood, a casting team will search for people who are “at their wit’s end” as a result of their misbehaved dogs, said Johnnie Raines, casting director of Ricochet Television – the producers of a new American version of the popular Animal Planet TV program, “It’s Me Or The Dog” featuring dog trainer Victoria Stilwell, also one of three judges on CBS’ reality TV show “Greatest American Dog.”

Southern California residents who have a dog who’s an obedience school drop-out are encouraged to attend the casting event. Already a hit in Britain, the show makes its American debut this season. U.S. production taping is slated for later this year.

The U.K. production is in its fourth season and the British episodes are airing on Animal Planet now in the United States. To apply for “It’s Me Or The Dog” visit the show's website or call 877-443-6449. Applications will be accepted all summer.

The casting event is from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday at Bark N’ Bitches, 505 N. Fairfax Ave.

Is there any way Victoria Stilwell could come to our home in Washington state? We have a 5 month old mini-schnauzer who is pretty well behaved with the exception of excessive barking (especially when guests arrive at the door) and walking on a loose leash. We are attending Puppy kindergarten which has helped, but could still use the expertise of Victoria. We watch her shows regularly and follow her suggestions. We value her thoughts, comments, and method of training. We want our darling to be the best she can be. Please help us. Thank you.

Oh, I love watching that show! Even though my dog is well behaved, it's still lots of fun to watch. I'll be waiting to see the new episodes. :)
