Stars Align for N.Y. Animal Shelter Gala

Mya, Richard Belzer, and other celebrities set to appear at popular black-tie fundraiser.

The North Shore Animal League America is rolling out the red carpet for a host of celebrities and their dogs for the third annual DogCatemy Celebrity Gala on Thursday, Nov. 6 at New York City’s Capitale.

The event, which is open to the public, will be hosted by Richard Belzer of “Law & Order: Special Victim’s Unit,” an Animal League spokesperson. Singer Mya, a longtime supporter of the New York-based nonprofit animal shelter, will perform.

The black-tie event will feature short videos created by celebrities of themselves and their pets. The stars will vie for the “Crystal Collar Awards” in categories including “Best Pawformance,” “Best Dogumentary,” “Best Tail-Waggin’ Comedy,” “Best Musical,” and “Best in Show.” Winners will also receive a sterling silver pet necklace created by jeweler Judith Ripka.

Last year’s celebrity attendees included Beth Ostrosky, Howard Stern, Rachael Ray and her dog, Isaboo, Katie Lee Joel, Robin Quivers, Gary Dell’Abate, John Bartlett, Tamar Geller, and Hallie Kate Eisenberg.

The DogCatemy Celebrity Gala also features a silent auction, available online beginning Oct. 17. To learn more, visit www.animalleague.org
