Lucky dogs, indeed. Ten real pooches who won the Oklahoma Lottery’s photo contest will get their picture on new “Lucky Dog” scratch-off tickets.
Rowdy, a Yorkshire Terrier owned by Shelly Bateman of Helena, Okla., was one of the winners.
“I was on the Oklahoma Lottery website and I saw they were doing a contest. I sent in some picture of my dogs the last week of the contest,” Bateman told Enid News. “In the beginning of October I got a call Rowdy was selected.”
Each of the winners also received a $200 PetSmart gift card.
“We went shopping already. He got toys, dog food, shampoo, and chew bones. He got everything he could think of,” Bateman said.
Bateman also bought Lucky Dog tickets as a memento of Rowdy’s brush with fame.
“I went down and bought 13 or so tickets and wound up with two with his picture on them,” she said. “We are real proud of him. We are really proud of the picture.”
Other winners include a Beagle, Siberian Husky, and several mutts. Lucky Dog Scratchers cost $1 and can be purchased at Oklahoma Lottery retailers. The top prize is $1,000.
