Mickey Rourke: No Plan to Thank Dogs at Oscars

The nominee — who praised his dogs in Golden Globes speech — doesn’t think he’ll win.

Hollywood’s latest comeback king Mickey Rourke doesn’t think he’ll win the Best Actor Oscar for his work in “The Wrestler.” So that means the actor isn’t preparing another Golden Globes-like acceptance speech thanking his dogs.

“I’ll probably be up there clapping for [fellow nominee, “Milk” star] Sean Penn,” Rourke told People on Monday at the 81st annual Oscar Nominees Luncheon in Beverly Hills. “I don’t think that far ahead.”

During Rourke’s Golden Globes acceptance speech last month after winning the Best Actor prize, the actor famously singled out his canine companions, which include Jaws, Mickey, and Chihuahua mix Loki, for praise.

“Sometimes when a man’s alone, that’s all you got is your dog,” Rourke said during the nationally televised ceremony. “And they’ve meant the world to me.”

The Academy Awards ceremony will be held Feb. 22.
