Pet Sitters International (PSI) urges dog and cat owners to plan ahead in case of an emergency with the unveiling of vehicle window clings. The idea is to make emergency crews aware that the injured party has pets at home in need of care, according to the educational association for professional pet sitters.
The red-and-white window cling is similar to the animal rescue stickers used in homes to alert fire crews about household pets, only it’s used on car windows in case of an accident. The vehicle window cling provides the name and telephone number of an emergency contact, such as the pet sitter.
The bright red design was created for easy visibility, according to PSI. The company also said it created the window cling as an extra step to ensure animal health and first aid.
The vehicle window clings are three square inches and are made of vinyl. They stick to clean glass surfaces without adhesive and can be easily removed and reused.
Pet owners can receive one window cling by sending one dollar and a stamped, self-addressed envelope to Pet Sitters International, 201 East King St., King, NC 27021.
