“Little Miss Sunshine” star Abigail Breslin has gotten her birthday wish – a month early.
The Oscar-nominated 12-year-old has adopted an Australian Shepherd mix named Ellie from a shelter in Georgia, where the actress is filming “Zombieland” with Woody Harrelson and Emma Stone, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Breslin first spotted the tan and white puppy with black spots and blue eyes near a vacant supermarket in Powder Springs, where the production was filming.
Breslin says she begged her father to let her take in the pup.
“I told him, ‘Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please. If you let me have her I won’t ask for anything else for my birthday, or my next birthday, or the next,’” Breslin told the newspaper.
Several days later the actress and her brother, actor Spencer, 16, and their mom adopted the 12-week-old puppy from Southern Hope’s Roswell animal shelter. Breslin said she told Ellie: “You’re the best birthday gift ever.”
