Paris Hilton says that she was the subject of a cruel hoax late Sunday night when someone called her cell phone and said her Chihuahua Tinkerbell was dead.
Hilton had just arrived at boyfriend Doug Reinhardt’s Beverly Hills, Calif., home when “someone prank-called me and said that my dog Tinkerbell had been ran over,” Hilton told E! News. “They said ‘Tinkerbell is dead — we just found it on Mulholland Drive.’”
A neighbor called police when Hilton began screaming outside Reinhardt’s home.
“We couldn’t find the keys to the house,” Hilton says. “While Doug was looking for the keys, I was screaming on the phone. I’m on the phone crying calling my mom. Obviously I’m going to be crying; [Tinkerbell is] like my daughter.”
Hilton then got in touch with her assistant. “She went to the house and saw that all my dogs were fine,” Hilton says.
“I don’t know who called,” she says. “It happens all the time. I’ve changed my number like 10 times in the past two years. Whoever made that call is sadistic.”
LAPD spokesman Richard French confirmed that officers responded to a call at the Reinhardt residence just before 1:00 a.m. Monday.
“When police arrived on the scene, it revealed that no crime had occurred, so there was no police report,” the spokesman said.
